In the GB text is says "No Cancellations allowed after final price is announced" Not sure how to interpret that. Does it mean people can back out as longs as it's before the price is announced? I was personally ok waiting for the GB but more people wanted to go ahead with it today with incomplete information.

I have a question? Are the prices similar or close to how it usually cost? Like, Wonder Woman? or is it FAC prices where it is through the roof?

What if I don't like the PRICES? I can't cancel, right? A deposit is great if we know the actual price of each edition. Is this a buy it or leave it situation?

You are not new to the game. What is the worst you think could happen? Shipping remains the same and you know how much the 4K or 3D DC steels usually cost from Manta. I dont know the price yet and there were enough people who wanted the option of the unknown so they are taking the chance fo the deposit with what is known.

I wish there were guarantees in life for everything, for anything else there is Mastercard. Hope you used it ;)

I don't understand why GB is going ahead with non-refundable deposit when final price is not known. Why not delay the GB until the cost is known so that people don't have to commit blindly.

Because they wanted it. Nothing to understand really. Look @ my response to Kryptonite.

This GB is different where the actual price of the item is not known unlike all the previous GBs from other retailers. The fact that you can’t back out is another thing. Anyway, good luck with the GB. This is not about guarantees in life.

I hate to jump into the mix (and probably shouldn't), and I know that to each his/her own, but in terms of the deposit we're talking $13.54 USD. So at worst, someone would lose $13.54 if they eventually see the final price and can't afford it or don't want to. At the same time though, this despot is for a premium release of a Steelbook. This isn't a standard release from a standard retailer with standard prices. We're already operating in the realm of expensive. So I guess for me, as someone who gladly jumped on this GB without hesitation, the reality is that the $13.54 USD gamble isn't really that much for something that I am 100% set on getting regardless of the price.

Knowing my luck though, this ends up being the most expensive release ever and costs me a kidney, the deed to my house, and my soul. But oh well, that's the price of being a Steelbook collector! ;)

If you go back few posts from earlier this afternoon there is a reason as to why this was done. Let me be blunt about some other reasons, there are sites where the GB is running since months; Would you like to lose your allocation and make it much smaller because you wanted to wait for all knowns?

Something like what happened to BR2049 HDZ and Wonder Woman Manta? I understand everyone cannot be happy but today's GB was more for people who put time aside to be online based on the communication I sent out earlier last week. We had enough votes to make it a go, Option 2.

The price is not going to be something unusual. Some people have already guessed what it could be.

As to why you cannot cancel: You cannot because I don't have time to do those changes manually, plus my Paypal account creditworthiness and funds available for withdrawal depend on total # of refunds and cases opened. I like to keep them stellar off and on HDN.

If you are not sure you can always join the GB later during the week.

Anyone who made few transactions as a seller with Paypal knows this. Once you do 2-3 refunds, a flag is raised by them and they become suspicious... even if it's done purely legitely...

Trust me... I had my own share of problem and I am 100% with @Aniv on this mather.

For new comers, I've consistently had zero problems with Ninja GB's over several years. That's the confidence that comes of being part of the community, having GB's authorised by the gatekeepers and paying a few extra dollars in fees.
Especially on popular titles, it maybe the only way to even have a chance of scoring a title.
// cheers

What happened?

Aniv announced a GB with live times for April 1st.
He then emailed staff to set live at that time.
I emailed back and asked if the Easter Bunny visited Texas. Giving him sh!t for choosing to start a gb on Easter.
He obliged to choose another day, but in the inbetween time Manta said they need more time to price editions.
The message was not conveyed across HDN well enough as many were still coming at the April 1 time to order their copies.
Due to Manta and Aniv conversations it seemed worthy to go ahead with the GBs with deposits for reservations should he be able to get these approved and listed. A function only a few can set live. He called me and explained and said he went one step further to try and calm the members at bay when trying to cancel and reschedule GB that if his post received 20 likes he would set it live ... meaning a good amount of people still interpreted the time as the original times set.
I got on and looked at overall qty count, looked like a decent amount thus gauging nothing would sell out immediately buying more time for others to likely see within the day.
I set it live ....
its been 12 hours since then and 3 out of 4 editons still have qty left.

Things dont always go as planned, and you will never please all, but a much larger percentage of people are happy than not.

If you are thinking it should have been rescheduled no matter what ;despite the people here who came at the previous announced time ... well that is an alternative option that I cant argue against either ... I set it live, and I can take the blame for that. I've done this long enough to know tho that there are hardly ever perfect solutions. perfect solution is retailer hosts all qty on their site with world wide shipping if they have a shipping department who can manage it all and of course have great shipping rates... but that is Zavvi and Amazon only. *shrug*

As for the non-refundable deposit. We are all adults here, except well ..maybe franky :p ... its obviously there to deter actions against his account as drum has also mentioned and we HDN know as well lots of refunds is not good with paypal. BUT no one is technically taking your money should you not want the edition at said price. You could use paypal for that, but you would then be blackballed from Aniv's future GBs and he holds a lot. I would think everyone realizes that , but no probs if not just explaining further. GBs do come at some extra cost a couple bucks above retail in most cases or $5 etc. all depends on what the host can manage. Aniv's GBs in the past compete with all others in pricing and service and if something was crazy out of the norm HDN would step in. And there is always paypal fees to consider for those who play by the rules. HDN and Aniv both do.

If you are someone who is looking for the cheapest cheapest option I gotta save $5 ... gotta save $2 ... gotta save $1 ... gotta save 50 cents. and you feel uncomfortable with the unknown then just simply dont join and try your luck with the retailer on general release day. Otherwise buy your peace of mind at 50 cents, $1, $2 $5 or what have you ...

I collect toys and collectibles as well. Sideshow and BBTS and other retailers offer higher NRDeposits on items with longer pre-order times and both have different prices. I'm in no way insinuating that this is some new process to come to HDN, but just stating that its not some new way of doing something that has never existed before as many reputable places do it.

I don't know what all the commotion is about. I think if you're that set on getting this release then you're gonna get it whatever the price is... and as stated previous to my comment, its going to be in the ball park of the other DC Manta releases. If a couple of dollars here or there is gonna make or break your decision to buy this steelbook then you're probably not in the financial position to do it anyway.

I'm not just assuming people's financial situation but let's face it, these are sold in USD... the conversion rate against the dollar is the best pretty much than it's been in a long time. Even at $50 it's less than £36, a 4k copy of this film will cost you best part of £25 alone in the UK at most retailers.. if you think £36 is alot for a premium Asian release then like I said you're probably not in the best place financially to be buying these.. that or you're in the wrong game

Exactly. You just have to do a bit of research and you can easily make an estimate of how much this is going to cost. If you take that into consideration a 10 dollar deposit (+ HDN costs) to secure a copy this early on isn't really that big of a deal. Unless it's gonna turn out to be 200 dollars+ then you should know how much money you have set aside for these things.

I would just like to thank you again for doing the GB, I was here based on the original comms and appreciated you going ahead with it. At the end of the day I wanted this so I purchased.

Didn’t expect you to get a lot of flack for going ahead especially as you say if you don’t do a group buy then there is a smaller chance you can get it elsewhere or pay shed loads on ebay

I dont understand the problem. the price wont be much different to their previous releases. Apes 4K GB price was ~$51 if I remember right, so JL will be in the same range +/- $3
when you can afford a $51 release, then you can also afford a $52-$55 release ...you dont die of hunger because of these few bucks.
