Who will be the claimant?![]()
It's a beautiful design and I'm extremely happy with it, but essential paying $40 for a lenticular slip box when I could have gotten this for 1/3 of the cost is kinda nutty
I hope Manta Lab sees it, kicks some a$$ and it never gets released.
Sucks for Manta but ultimately Manta have sold out this title, they have made their money. It's not going to hurt their sales, only the resale market but as Manta had specific slips and a boxset, then someone wanting all of that will still have to go for the Manta release on eBay or via classifieds.
Even if fox is in breach, Manta isn't about to go to war with them when they've sold out their quota already plus risk and very possibly sever their ties with Fox for future released
Because you think about resale values. There are other points to consider which you didn't think of.
Is this aimed at me?
I don't think of resale values, if and when I resell a steelbook on eBay it starts at 99p and goes for whatever it goes for.
All I know is, I own the steelbook. I didn't scoff at the price when I originally purchased it and am happy to have it in my Manta Lab and overall collection. It doesn't bother me if six months or a year down the road if the steel goes on sale elsewhere for less. I could potentially look at ebay and see the same release has gone for less than I paid then get annoyed that I spent more at retail then if I waited.. But how long do you wait? Just bought an OLED TV, it'll likely be alot cheaper in six months AND likely obsolete, but how long do you wait?
I'm not asking for your opinion about whether you care or not what happens in six months time about resale values. I also do not care if you bought a TV or not.
I replied to your post in relation to Manta not being hurt as they sold their steels but hurt the resale market, by stating that essentially the sequel they can be released with the same artwork and that is something to consider, especially all those joining late that will pick the HMV instead of Manta from the private market.
You stated this message: Its abit of a knee jerk reaction to be questioning every release based on this turn of events
So I responded back it's not just about resales, other points to consider. I am not sure what you gain is from this. I given other reasonable points to consider, just like you have from the overall situation. Of course everyone is going to be discussing why a Manta WEA art is being used on a HMV release and the other factors involved and future implications.
Surely the issue regarding whichever artwork is used is simply a case of the best available out there being chosen / that is allowed to be used . . .
All things considered, the images used on the steelbooks will not be owned by the retailers (lol) so even though they may have exclusivity for a specified time period it's not going to be an indefinite period and I'm surprised that the retailer in question is expressing "shock horror". Methinks they do protest too much!.
Unsurprising that it's gone to the kings of collector's editions, HMV, since they also had an exclusive package previously with artcards:-

Anyway, this particular image used for the front just happens to be the best (or second best) out there . . . of a similar style used on the U.K. Studio Ghiblis and more recently on the cracking HEADSHOT steelbook . . . with all other front images not in the same league despite the similar central layout.

And I don't really care that you're bottom lip is quivering as you bite your nails at home worrying about the price of a steelbook ad what "may" happen in the future. You've come off as ignorant, chin up sweetheart, go outside, have a coke and smile. I will tonight also when I'm watching Kingsman on my OLED, I may be sweating the heat but I won't be sweating the fact that I spent my money supporting a company that I like that produces quality releases time after time
I'm discussing about this release as anyone is entitled to on the forum and you talk about a TV you bought? ROFL!
I'm glad to see you fuming with rage, highlights the true colours of what you really are
Keep it up!Fuming lol. You're getting obviously agitated by the fact a company is releasing a steelbook another company has released before under an exclusive banner yet you don't know the terms of that said exclusivity. And this was months ago. I'd understand if Mantas kingsman sold out and shipped and these appeared on hmv shelves the following week. If you already have it then you have it in a slip or a boxset. If you don't then you are getting it for £14.99 assuming it's the EXACT same steelbook and you're getting a bargain. It's the age old argument, you get people who love the steels solely and people who love the whole premium package. If you did buy this when it came out solely for the steelbook then you can't begrudge the overall cost cause you got the overall package and you decided to pay for it. If you didn't buy it then why complain now when you have the opportunity to own it for a fraction of the price? Where's Man of steel, Revenant and Constantine.. Don't see them hitting hmv? Exactly what I mean by knee jerk reaction. Exclusivity often expires.. It happens with all sorts.. Toys, funkos, video games. Why is it such a shock that sooner or later it happened here
Do as you please
