“It is one thing to license one design or collection with a company to see how it goes. It’s like going on a blind date – you see what happens. But it is quite another to tie your wagon to a company for 2-3 years.” Artist Tara Reid

WETA
Then isnt it easier for studios to get art from the likes of Mondo, Bottleneck, etc?
It depends. Some studios are primarily against it as it adds in another layer of cost. Why? Because some studios have their own designers, creative divisions on payroll. So you can imagine the many things that then go on with that. Why are we paying for ours if we can go outside? Which really just usually equates to why even pay outside when we have our own in-house. And then those feeling slighted if you do etc. Over the years there has been a ton of cutbacks in studio staff tho esp in home media.
Seems that the Manta Lab buyers need not get annoyed by this release . . . although the non-Manta Lab buyers (like me) may be (lol).
Apart from the obvious differences of no slips, lenticulars etc. it's reported that the finish will be different too . . . as in not embossed or even full gloss like the Manta . . . rather flat and spot-gloss according to what I've read today.
TBC
Here you go:-Got anymore info (or where you read that?) I do hope it is true as this could look really good with spot gloss
