Today I officially announced the pre-order date & time for 2nd round

London (United Kingdom - England) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 13:00:00 BST UTC+1 hour
Seoul (South Korea) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 21:00:00 KST UTC+9 hours
Vancouver (Canada - British Columbia) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 05:00:00 PDT UTC-7 hours
New York (U.S.A. - New York) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 08:00:00 EDT UTC-4 hours
Paris (France) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 14:00:00 CEST UTC+2 hours
Corresponding UTC (GMT) Tuesday, 16 July 2013, 12:00:00

-1x copy per slipcover (2x copies for slipcover was sold out too fast like 7 min, That's why kimchi put more restriction for quarter slip release)
-5x copies per lenticular

here is technical problem solved so far

after you pay via paypal, you will automatically return to main page of kimchidvd and you can go to order page to check if your order is completed.

(previous kimchi, does not provide automatic payment completed by paypal, only kimchi handle one by one to complete order by manually matched with paypal transaction. it's kind of big burden and many problem happened)

and another announcement for shipping

Small packet is removed, K-packet applied for all of item sold in kimchidvd
K-packet is slightly expensive than small packet but there is lots of benefits

- Printed slip with tracking number
- End-to-End tracking with delivery confirmation (No lost shipment)
- Reasonable cost than EMS
- generally takes 5-15 days (EMS: 5-10 days, Small packet 15 -35 days)

but some member are curious why kimchidvd changed shipping method

From T2 kimchi release, Kimchi handled more than 1,000 box to ship out to post office KR, this is a big volume of post office KR to handle only for one store.

so post office does not allow kimchi to accept small packet any more :(
and asked kimchi to change K-packet rather than small packet due to too many package in one or two day.

after changed of k-packet, pack & shipping process is much more faster than small packet and very reliable shipping method in terms of tracking.

even now, some of member did not received T2 kimchi after shipping process done at 26th June because no tracking available for small packet.

1 or 2 steelbook for shipping charge between small packet & k-packet is only difference around 2$

please kindly understand kr post office policy for massive volume of shipment like over 1,000 boxes and more powerful tracking for lost shipment protection.

Thanks

Quite agree, it's far too glitchy. The success of an order shouldn't rest on the idiosyncrasies of an unreliable cart system. Major overhaul required, I think.

I agree it could be improved but everyone has to deal with the same situation, so no one has an advantage over anyone else.

Payment Completed mails from PP are instant. Order Confirmation mails from KimchiDVD are not. Unless i'm the exception to the rule, and have been getting mine late for every order i placed over the past few years.

My confirmation email from KimchiDVD is timestamped at 5:11 am my time.

I thought it took 15 minutes, but I guess it was actually 11 minutes.

At any rate... the confirmation email was sent instantaneously by Kimchis automated system.

The only way kimchi could have improved the checkout would involve paying bucket loads for private servers and bandwidth.

At a guess, I would say the site sees less than 100 people at a time 364 days a year. It would make no financial sense for them to increase the sites capacity for simultaneous checkout.

I personally had to sit for 20 mins, on a phone, whilst on holiday (wife was not impressed) to get these. In the past I've missed many limited sales. This release is the 1st ever that I will as genuinely excited and nervous about when I was sitting trying to order.

I know people are pissed, but kimchi have kept this hobby alive for me. Whilst other stores churn out things I have no iyeret in, kimchi have given us one gem and what looks to be another in sept.

Many asked for this to be limited and they reduced it to 1 1/4 for the second batch.

Tony / kimchi, have been fantastic IMO. Hats off and long may it continue.

Now, what's number 3 :)

I don't think anyone is really complaining about what Kimchi has brought to the table, as what they have done is truly appreciated. it's the way the orders are handled. The problems most had were not to do with bandwidth but more the fact the system is easily broken through no fault of users. These things should not cost huge amounts to fix, there are many sites everywhere and i have ordered on many that were very small operations but very few have been this clunky feel to them.

I personally dont think there's any harm in Kimchi trying to improve things, after all if it does plan on expanding things in the future then they need to sort these glitches out otherwise they will spend most of their time fixing orders from people having issues with the system.

On my way back home from work.

Crashed at 1pm so I was in a meeting till 2.45. Missed out on the 1/4 slip a bit gutted TBH

Tried to order on my phone the lenticular one and the item won't add to my cart. Ill get on the laptop within the next hour

Thank you for these great exclusives but Im sorry the time 1pm to help UK members was all wrong

Just on the bandwidth thing, from personal experience, it costs a lot to upgrade from 100 to 1000 users.

I imagine kimchi will be able to increase useability if there was a spike in profits, but I imagine (pure speculation) that a fair bit will be tied up in these exclusives.

Objectively, you need to consider that any investment in a sites infrastructure needs to be based on profit and projected sales. That's assuming you have the money to pay for it.

IMO criticism needs to be constructive otherwise it comes across as more moaning (and there is far too much of that)

i think it was only a matter of how well prepared one was on this.
i made several order test runs the last days to find out about the flaws and faults of the site (telephone numbers, checkout process,...), so i already knew where the order might get stuck.

and once if you know all that, it's as easy as on any other site to place an order.
so im really sorry for everyone who missed out on the 1/4 slips. but complaining and moaning now about the website is not fair to kimchi.

and there is still the chance to get the other version (hard to believe but true).

Bravo severo! Very wise advice and welcome to the forums!

Ordered from Kimchi finally. Happy the lenticular one was still in stock!

Still holding out for 1/4 slip with a bit of luck. Not expecting this to go back into stock

I only got an email from PayPal. Should I be worried?

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2

Yes me too, only one mail from paypal.

If you check in your accounts and it shows payment completed, you should be fine.
Also I never get my confirmation email from tony until the next morning when ordering. ;)
