Definitely sticking with the UK version now. Prefer the UK lettering, and black and white front. This is just poor to say the least, certainly not worth more than £20. Kimchi seriously failed with this one in my opinion, but will wait to see the final package, before final judgement.

I've been holding off making a decision on this but everytime I look at the pic it looks worse :(
One of my top 3 films and I still don't have a good steel to go for :(

Saying that I'll probably still get it :hilarious:

Yeah, pretty weird to see this happening after all the good things that have happened before here with HDN & Kimchi...

I thought that the studio (or more accurately, the license owner) always has the final say over what designs the exclusive release retailer suggests to them?

Maybe somebody "at the top" decided that the proposed design looks too simple :(

Those background texts look quite weird to me, too.

Might still have to get one just to see if this will be one of those steels that look better in hand :hilarious:

SMH. I really dont know what is so hard about producing a steelbook that a majority of the steelbook collectors want (hence the poll thats now obsolete apparently). Why tamper with it if there was a somewhat general consensus on a design that THEY THEMSELVES set a poll for, only to disappoint us ever so picky steelbook collectors once again? I dont like judging steel on these initial, cloudy low res pics....but that looks horrid and not up to the Kimchi standard. I hope this looks a little better in hand but as it stands now $50 stays in my piggy bank.

I can't figure out why some people are so turned off by the lettering (which personally I think will look cool spot glossed) and yet some of those same people are choosing the UK version which has lettering completely covering the whole back cover??

Some designers cannot help themselves as they just have to use their Photoshopping techniques, just like Michael Bay cannot help himself; he always pans the camera

The glossy parts look the best, which should make it pretty obvious that this should have remained as what was chosen in the poll, which was for a full laminate gloss front and back. No letters. Now... well.... now... I just don't know. I really want to like this. I think this could have been greatness. But the lettering across Leon's face... I just don't know.

If it wasn't for the gloss lettering, this would of been perfect

I'm still waiting for resolution on my Le Grand Bleu steelbook that looked like it was sitting in a second hand shop for a month prior to being shipped to me :/

Vote with your wallet. If you don't like it don't buy it.

If enough people don't buy it, we'll get it for 9.99 or Free... just like Zavvi. :p

I'm in agreement about the overthinking on this one. The lettering makes it look like a watermarked test pressing. The only collection I'll be endeavouring to keep complete now is Blufans.
