I disagree, most of their Steelbooks have been great and the Corpse Bride was pretty decent.

In the end they would of easily made something better then this.
Entertainment Store/Zavvi/Amazon
They don't make steelbooks they are retail on-line shops

The Film Studios decide what gets released and they decide what artwork is used not the retailer
When its an exclusive the film studio takes requests on artwork if its approached to do a release most of the time its the film studio approaching the retail shop do you want an exclusive with this release

The film studio decide all artwork and will reject any artwork they don't have the licence to use and often will only allow artwork they want to be used sometimes its new artwork that's created with discussions with a retailer including the type of finish used and embossing etc when its an exclusive but the final decision is with the film studio and noting will change that

Remember these retail sellers don't make any steelbooks all they are is shops selling a product made by the owner of the product and sold to all retail shops or as an exclusive to an individual shop

This might look better in the flesh when released but I would have liked a full gloss finish instead of Matt Varnish Finish

Its simple Artwork yes but with Debossed Title Treatment with Embossed Bullet and Smoke Trail this might look lot better than we expect
The Embossed Bullet might be good

I don't think it would be so bad if they changed the colours around - It's just black or silver steelbooks are usually boring.

That I don't like to much red
Black works better with the Red/white/silver

I must protest most strongly at your singling out Arthur the senior art editor at Warner Brothers.

He is an exceedingly well-mannered chimp and will work dilligently all day with his crayons and pad for just a handful of bananas and a pat on the head :)

Hang your head in shame :naughty: ;)
Lol. Sorry I didn't mean to offend Arthur the chimp. Please tell him I'm sorry and throw him another banana from me and then perhaps he can retrieve the rest of the crayons from his arse and add a bit colour and creativity to the cover.

Come to think of it, Arthur is not really Homer Simpson and jammed a crayon up his hose to make him loose his creativity?

Noticed zavvi don't advertise this as the "directors cut" like it was on Amazon.

Poor steelbook of the first film for more than the 4 film set costs? At least if it was the "directors cut" it may have been worth getting.

I'm still trying to get my head around what they mean when they say 'embossed bullet trail'.

Do they just mean the bullet trail will be at the same level as the rest of the front cover? Which will make it LOOK embossed but it will only be because the title is DEBOSSED behind it.

I thought you couldn't have both? :squint:

Wouldn't you need a border for the embossed bullet and trail? But then how could you deboss the title?

I'm not sure. As you pointed out it will probably be just the bit in front of the debossed title. They can't emboss all of the bullet trail anyway right to the edge. Yeah you need a border for any emboss work.

Embossed Bullet and Smoke Trail

I could be wrong but it might be only the Bullet embossed

No need for a usual frame border for title as that's debossed

This is starting to look a lot better, I'll still be waiting for a price drop if it's not the DC though.
What will the inside artwork be
I'm hoping for either Mr Joshua sniping from the helicopter, Riggs and Murtaugh being electrocuted or the final fight between Riggs and Mr Joshua.

back art looks great

Question: Why did warner revert back to doing matte finishing, after the great success & praise they received for the last wave which was both glossy & embossed ??? (Mars Attacks, Beetlejuice, V fo Vendetta) ??
Yeah forgot about them. Have a few nice glossy steels from them The Prestige, Argo, The Goonies, NBK

The back artwork looks good but I hope they print the back image properly and it doesn't have that weird effect where parts if the image disappear when you tilt it at an angle. Really hate that. The image on the back of True Romance is ruined by that.
