I thought the same thing, until I opened my copy.....

It's has a really nice matè finish! The quotes doesn't pop out at all, it really kinda of blends in actually. It's a very nice Steelbook, thicker & heavier steel which add a little bit of weight.

And for $19.99! You can't beat that! Some places charge more for the plastic case.

I truly feel sorry for u if u decide to PASS. I'd would go run out right now and buy 2!

I agree. I had thought about skipping this and instead go for FS version but went to Target last night for some shopping and decided to check this out. Felt good in hand, came back home and opened it. Very nice matte finish and a heavy steelbook. Glad I picked this up

I was on the fence about this as I had ordered the FS version in Marc's GB and it is on the way....but the more I see this, the more I like it....can't make up my mind which one is better....really don't want to keep 2 copies of the same movie....just don't have the space with my huge collection...any thoughts!!??

This is a great addition and affordable but if I was only going to buy one copy I would go with this one from Japan

I like this, but I'd like it more if they removed the writing from the back, and review writing at the bottom of the front! Very wordy steel at the moment, needs cleaning up a bit IMO

With this steelbook, you actually get a feel for what the movie was about and intended to deliver. The FS steel is just a bland replica design of a bullet case and seems forced to look "different". That is my opinion of course but I feel this and the JP steel represent the movie a lot better and are the ones to get. I have the JP on order but its expensive and in quite happy with the Target edition so I most likely going to cancel.

I was getting ready to head up to target and nab one of these but at work today I was putting out shipment and a blu-ray of lone survivor was in the box. The huge problem I have with this steelbook is its the same cover art as the normal blu-ray slipcover. I know this happens a lot because of studios only approve some artwork, I guess it just feels lazy to me :\

This was an easy pass for me once the JP art was announced. I never liked this art, but was going to get it because I wanted a steel of this movie.

actually i like the three arts out there....everyone is unique in its own way...i just wish the studios would give us the option for different art and not just generic like now days...

Yeah, how ******... same thing like when those lazy basterds at Play.com used the same slipcover artwork for IM & IM2.

I hear ya man. But I started collecting steels for unique artwork not the same art on dvd and blu ray cases. IM came out in 08 I think, understandable I suppose for same artwork. Everyone has their own opinions though, JP one all the way in terms of unique artwork

I really like the Target steelbook and only slightly prefer the look of the Japan steel. Just remember--for anyone making the decision about which version to buy--the Japan steel is about 2.5 times more expensive than this one. If you're Mr. Moneybags, that won't matter. But for some collectors, price is still a factor.

The movie is very good though, so I would say buy any and all editions that you want and can afford.

Wow. Got off work tonight, strolled into a local Target, paused when I stopped by the new releases at the checkout and decided, "I believe I'll purchase a new steelbook."

Never saw that coming. Especially with my track record of rarely finding Target exclusives in an actual Target store. Go figure.

Came home totally jazzed until I saw jcm's post for the JP edition - LOL. (sigh...)

Now I will have to add the JP edition to the Target and FS editions. I hope some of these constant double dips will retain at least some of their value when I'm old and gray and need money for cat food. (Which will be in about twenty minutes...)

It is a great flick and an even better tribute to the courage and resolve of our fighting men and women. Peter Berg's best in my opinion

By the way does the name Gregory Nicotero sound familiar to anyone?

That's why I never Pre order online. Not only for wrong product but then I have to either go to the store or call and get a price adjustment. That even if they allow the price adjustment.
