Aronofsky in the Running to Direct Superman

Black Swan helmer Darren Aronofsky has joined the list of potential directors for Warner Bros.' new Superman movie, reports Heat Vision.

The list includes Duncan Jones, Jonathan Liebesman, Matt Reeves, Tony Scott and Zack Snyder. The trade adds that Ben Affleck was also briefly in the running but he is reportedly no longer pursuing the job.

Aronofsky is said to be in active talks, though it's early.

Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas will executive produce the film, targeted for a 2012 release.

Personally I love the poster. Its intriguing, inviting to questions and creative. It breaks the rules and puts forth something no one expected. IMO its intended purpose was to get people talking about the movie which it seems is what people are doing all over the internet.

In my mind the poster is brilliant. And this being different from 300, Sucker Punch and other stuff from Snyder would be the best thing to happen to this movie.

I agree, this should be advertised in a BIG way, DC should view this like the BIG comeback of Superman. I think they've done a poor job in promoting this film.

These posters should be teasing us, denoting EPIC, but they come up short. I mean, the Watchmen, Sucker Punch, Inception teasers were monumental, and I honestly think Superman should blow all these away.

Indeed. DC should view this movie as a major stepping stone to the much talked / hyped about Justice League movie. Since it's been mentioned that Darkseid is the villain in the JL movie, I'm hoping that there's some tie-in to Apokolips in the Man of Steel movie.

I'm having trouble with something at the moment. I blame it on this new Man of Steel trailer. I'm having a difficult time lifting my jaw back up off of the floor because this trailer just blew my freakin' mind! Every single thing about this trailer was epic... especially Han Zimmer's unused score for Gladiator 2.

The score definitely works. I love it. Cinematographically, This will most certainly blow Nolan's Batmans out of the water. I love Wally Pfister, but Zack Snyder's eye is flawless. I am so excited.

Pairing these 2 together was a great choice. I just hope the script and screenplay are as strong. This movie needs grandeaur. DC has much to prove with this film.

It's interesting becase at the start of the trailer Jonathan Kent tells Clark he needs to keep that side of himself a secret and possibly to have let that bus of kids die almost discouraging his use of powers, but by the end you hear the voiceover of him telling him he needs to make a choice and then you almost see Clark put that burden on humanity, asking if they are ready for him. Will he save them or go his seperate ways

I also find interesting that Jor-el in the sneak trailer says the people will stumble but can stand behind him and be raised.

Clark seems to be much more indecisive of using his powers in this movie. He is almost telling humanity that he can work for them but not if they can't accept him, but we ultimately know he will choose to be it's savior so you have to wonder what's the push. Will it be Jonathan's death or is something else going to do it.

I am very curious to see what happens in the fortress

As a side bar I watch boardwalk empire and I really like Michael Shannon's character, but also I just saw him on broadway this weekend in Grace and he was really good. It will be interesting to see this play out

This looks like a rehash of a Justice League unlimited episode which only reminds me that each episode of Justice League could have been released as a short movie on its own Blu-ray since almost all those episodes are gold.
