I'm at Walmart right now and they have a magnetic pre order card with what looks like a steel on the back cover and front.
Promotion page indicates the pre-order is IN-STORE ONLY.

According to one review the Steel packaging is in fact card.

Ignore amazon's customer reviews as they include reviews from other versions of the same product, for example you frequently get reviews of the DVD version in a blu-ray listing.

Ordered one yesterday from that link! It came today & I can confirm it is the same badass steel case.

Cheers , I ordered it yesterday assuming it would be the metalpak as it's the same ASIN (barcode) number but it's great having conformation.

Wal Mart has a 90 day return policy with receipt. If this is purchased today for example, you could return it no later than 9/21/2013 to get a full refund. There's no street date yet for this is there? Maybe I missed it. If this gets released in October or November, and it's not a steel, returning for a full refund could be tricky.

Have you got a link to the item? All I can find on Amazon UK is regular Blu Ray???

I finally gave up on my Walmart and just ordered the pre-order card from eBay. These wal-mart pre-orders end up on there all the time for cheaper than the stores (this was $21). I hate to buy it from there since the Walking Dead and True Blood ones I bought came from a Pawn shop (but the codes still worked). I just don't know if they were stolen and sold to the pawn shop who then stuck them on eBay (which seems likely considering the discounted prices). Oh well. It was eBay or possibly miss out.

When I bought mine, the cashier pointed out a code on the store receipt that I had to enter online for the Pre-order to work. I haven't tried yet since I'm in the process of moving but you "might" need to have the actual store receipt code for this all to work. Maybe someone could clarify who has use theirs. :dunno:

Could this be a digibook like The Hobbit was? Was there ever thought that the pre order cards for that release were going to be steelbooks as the exclusive packaging?

Could be a digi, yes. Last two major Warner titles - Hobbit, no USA steel and TDKR, Best Buy got the USA steel.

So very plausible this could be something else from Walmart.

Yeah, I don't recall Walmart releasing any new release Warner Brothers titles as steelbooks. Could be though!

While you can't rule anything out at this point, if I remember correctly, The Hobbit Lenticular Card Pre-Orders were not BD size (G2). In fact, they might have been bigger than DVD size (G1).

That's something new if they do. I've bought a few if these for other movies and the code is in the packaging. Either way the listing I bough said it includes the code so I'm not worried.
