Thanks for helping me with my decision. I said it before and now I know that I will stop with the Kimchi exclusives. Monsters Inc would have been interesting but the price is too much for me. I know it's 3D and Disney but there has to be an end at pricing.

T2 was 38$, LGB was at 43$ (47$) and now we are at 50$ (60$)...serious?

I think I will keep T2 and and one of the LGB (I have both on preorder) but I will stop collecting the Kimchi exclusives.

I agree with the bit on the price. I know i said i'd be collecting all of these Kimchi releases, but with it being Disney (which i don't care for, at all) and that price tag...i'll just stick to Leon and Infernal Affairs. Let's hope the prices for those will be relatively normal. As much as i love KimchiDVD, I'm not going to encourage these prices by buying into them.

However, i do think both the lenticular and 1/4 slip look great. I'm certain there will be a lot of happy people out there, once these are released.

possible reason for the increased price compared to kimchi #1 and #2:
extras like the storybook, possible stickers and postcards (?) (see photos), and it's disney...

of course the price is quite high, but i guess a lot of people will change their minds after seeing actual pictures after the release and will pay even more on ebay then.

so i think i will pre-order both versions.

The extra items Shouldn't affect the price as there gifts if there making is pay for them they shouldn't call them gifts.

I personally don't mind spending a bit more on this personally as it comes with a lot more extras and nice finish. I've cancelled 90% of the steels that Zavvi are releasing which are by far inferior in terms of content and quality.

With Kimchi they check the steels before they send so paint chips and scratches are kept to a minimum. A few do slip through but no where near the amount of damages Zavvi have. I'd rather pay more for the better Customer service.

Plus I love this film and don't own it in steel form. Even if Zavvi release it I don't expect it to have 3D (which I want) or be anywhere near the same quality.

Yeah, that's right -> Amazon & Zavvi = Crappy steels and even crappier customer service

With the lack of online retailer options as far as Europe and North America is concerned, I would say Asian steels are the way to go as at least they offer a customized service and packaging :scat:.

I don't mind paying extra for my peace of mind and till the time I know I'm getting the value worth every penny

The gifts are more gimmicks than anything. They don't really add anything extra to the film experience, whereas an art book or production notes etc would compliment the release (and justify the increase in price).

Do I give the book and stickers to my 2 year old daughter ? If so, the package as a whole is ruined and any resale value is lowered. Or do I just let them sit gathering dust? I'm really not sure of the point of them, apart from a seeming reason to charge more.

God I'm cynical this morning :)

yeah, of course zavvi has lower quality steels than kimchi

t2 was matte with epic fail names on the border.. thats the only point of comparison we have..

we can only say that the customer service is a lot better from kimchi... but especially the disney steels we got from zavvi are a lot better than T2

Not cynical practical, I agree completely the gifts are a waste of time as they add nothing and probably cost a few pence to manufacture, I think $60 is just taking the ****

Please do not forget that this is still not the complete set as it is does not include the bonus BD and don't tell me it costs a lot of money to print the post cards. I wanted this to be the definitive release like Cars 2 SB but it is not the case here.

What a load of rubbish :hilarious:

No idea if you actually bought T2 or not but mine looks superb and is equally as good as any zavvi release, you have commented before on the position of the writing but I can say in hand it looks perfect

Well it's working out at least £45 with shipping, with the potential for more if things go pear shaped at customs.

It does pain me to say, but I may be sitting things out until Leon. :(

same here.

I refuse to pay that much for a single steel so guess I'll be sticking to my lenticular 3D Ameray

Maybe Kimchi raised the prices to keep up with Blufans.
If the prices of their steelbooks were too low, customers might think the ones from Kimchi are of lower quality than the ones from Blufans...
Well, that is just my theory, and I'd rather pay a cheaper price, but this could be a logical explanation, don't you think?
