T2 Korea does look cheap due to the poor finish. I prefer the Skynet Steelbook which is detailed and camera friendly.

Back to topic, I don't like the high price and the price increase after the promotional period which is not a good business practice especially when the promo price itself is on the higher side.

For fans of this movie and steelbook, there are 3 options.

Pay $120-$150 for the jumbo in the US/CA or UK £100 for the jumbo with no 3D.

OR

Pay $60 /£45 for a 3D/2D steelbook with some extras.

OR

As others have suggested, wait for Zavvi to release this in their Pixar collection @ £23-£24. Possibly no 3D.

Its not cheap but a much better option considering content included and relative price to the jumbo steel or a potential 2D only UK release. This with its content makes me happiest so will be in for a copy.

Ok since everybody is expressing their views, I thought maybe even I should go ahead and relieve myself ;)

To be honest, I'm not at all a fan of the Disney Releases. But I will be buying this. WHY?

Well, even I don't know. Maybe it's Kimchi Exclusive and if I leave it now, I might repent later on when everybody says that this was the one to get or if it ever makes it to the rare steelbook list in future, etc. :(

I'm one of those rational people who buy stuff that pleases them and not just because others are buying. I don't know where my rationality is gone and I have almost made up my mind for this steelbook :ohno:

Turn out this hobby is addictive after all EEK! :ohno: :squint:

Sorry if already asked but when it says
"London (United Kingdom - England) Friday, 30 August 2013, 02:00 BST UTC+ 1 hour"
does that mean 2 am or 2pm :wtf:

I will definitely be passing on this. Prices are going up, print runs are going up, I may aswell just wait for the Zavvi version. Blufans and Kimchi seem to be immune from the kind of criticism aimed at Zavvi and Entertainment Store when in reality their practices are very similar. I won't knock them or anyone who decides to purchase their exclusives, but they're just not for me anymore.

Looks like Kimchi have very quickly seen how much of a good thing they had with these exclusives and very cynically raised the prices. What surprises me is that they've chosen to position themselves alongside the Blufans prices when in reality they are a retailer and should be in the ES/Zavvi price scale.

Let's not forget Monsters Inc is a catalogue release so $50 is actually ridiculous.

You have hit the nail on the head ive seen through his little tactics put the price up then claim its a free gift and no bonus disc. Members will panic buy this thinking they are going to miss out, I am 100% sure when its released it will be on ebay for less than retail like T2.

I totally agree. I know many say that these will include the 3D discs and nice little extras but for me that isn't really important. Take for example Wreck-It Ralph. I paid just over £50 for my copy. The Zavvi version costs £23. I've effectively paid £27 for a 3D disc, a notebook and a slipcover. At this rate I could probably get my hands on the Zavvi version before the Blurans version too. I'm done with overpaying for titles that will probably end up getting a cheaper release elsewhere anyway.

I actually see no difference between collecting from Kimchi or ES. Your perspective is from the UK where you pay cost + free shipping. For anyone outside the UK as evidenced via the World War Z and Star Trek Into Darkness GB's, the price is pushing $50-$60 anyways just to acquire a copy. As I addressed before as well, Zavvi can release this and will cost close to $40. But as a fan of 3D to add the 3D disc would cost me $20-$30 here in the US, pushing the cost further up.

It is all a matter of from what perspective are you looking at the release from. I value content in addition steel package. If I wasn't fussed about 3D, then maybe a potential Zavvi release may be appealing.

As collectors, there are many factors that determine which version one gets. Rarity / Print runs / artwork / price / content / packaging / other costs such as shipping, fees and import taxes e.t.c.

I personally don't mind spending a bit more on this personally as it comes with a lot more extras and nice finish. I've cancelled 90% of the steels that Zavvi are releasing which are by far inferior in terms of content and quality.

With Kimchi they check the steels before they send so paint chips and scratches are kept to a minimum. A few do slip through but no where near the amount of damages Zavvi have. I'd rather pay more for the better Customer service.

Plus I love this film and don't own it in steel form. Even if Zavvi release it I don't expect it to have 3D (which I want) or be anywhere near the same quality.

I agree 100 percept with you I have also cancelled all my Zavvis the Tesco's of the steelbooks world , 5000 print run and also many of the entertainment Store UK are going the same way 5000 print run for me is 3000 to many so for me I will just collect the Asian steelbooks which will only go up in value , and also thy make the best steelbooks . I love the blufans and Kimchi steels thy are doing a fantastic job at the moment for collectors like me . lets hope that thy don't go down the Zavvi road ten a penny .

well that's true but when you come to sell or trade you will get £20 for your Zavvi Wreck it Ralph and £90 for your blufans Wreck It Ralph . need I say more ?

I'm talking about the basic price of the steel rather than any other factors like shipping or GB fees. ES have only released new titles so far and have priced them at £27 (and £28 for Jack Reacher whose print run was 500 compared to 3k on this)

Kimchi have decided that $50 is appropriate for a catalogue release, current exchange rates put that about £33. This seems excessive whichever way you break it down.

I buy Steelbooks for my own enjoyment, not as an investment, so I couldn't care less about future value.

yes I also collect steelbooks love them, and that's why I love to collect the Blufans and Kimich thy make nice steels. But it is nice to know also, that when it comes to trade, and sell ore to buy new releases in the future I will not be left out of pocket after all this is an expensive hobby That I love.
