Note about the steelbook - no embossing / debossing due to the lettering being too close to the edge, but it will have a special finish on the neon lights to make them stand out.

Havent seen the movie, but I gather by the popularity of this steel its a good movie, so I'm interested. However, only if it comes out in December and no sooner. Got enough steels to worry about between now and November, and even the Wii U...

Cant wait to pre order tomorrow! You guys think it'll be a strict run of say 4000?

I would imagine so yeah. A majority of Play catalogue releases are 4k. I know Terminator was stretched to 5k but thats rare. They actually value the collectors and it's become more and more apparent, especially this last year, that they're lightyears ahead of any other steelbook retailer in the UK. In my opinion anyway.

Never seen this or Battle Royale but looking forward to watching both :scat:

When Wreck posted a hint in the Battle Royale thread, everyone knew it had to be Oldboy, and I couldn't be more excited. It's in my top five favorite films of all-time. Please release Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Lady Vengeance as well!

hopefully just in time for xmas, a movie the whole family can enjoy:hilarious:

Thats a good one, mate. I will be rather uncomfortable watching this with my kids, will have a ton of explaining to do...a little off the topic, but film-lovers should watch his earlier movie Joint Secuirty Area, if not already. Thats more family-friendly, but it has everything in it too. Not as accomplished as OB as a film, but it has tension, action, heart, intelligence et al

I haven't seen that, will need to check it out sometime;) yeah I enjoy all these asian type movies another couple you should check out if you haven't seen is visitor q which is disturbing yet funny lol and cold fish which I thought was excellent.

I'm hoping for £9.99. But of course, I'd still buy even it it was £15  :p

Definitely. I remember back in 2010 when I started my blu collection first thing I did was looking for this steelbook and found nothing, a year later found one that was really awful (the DE version I think), also found another one awful too that was the DVD version. I was sort of sad, thinking "how I wish they'd release a steel with the same artwork as the amaray version", turns out they're releasing what I was expecting, and the back cover is just i-n-s-a-n-e! I'm really happy and I know I can't hide it. :D

Seriously, whoever is doing the art for recent Play.com pre-orders deserves a medal. Battle Royal & Oldboy look gorgeous, and adding the premium finishes, forget about it. We need more Steelbooks with striking art (and premium finishes). No more "Armageddon" Steelbooks, yuck.

Oldboy artwork is nothing new...it came from a poster :D
