Received mine today, I'm very happy with it. The finish does gives a very nice effect when you hit the light.

Man reading some of these comments make me think that Play has just set a bar so high unto themselves. I mean I really love my friends across the pond, but you guys are so spoiled by steels.

This is what we have to look forward to .... And with the cheapest matte finish you can find that if you rub your fingernail on it hard enough the paint chips off.

The Oldboy steel from the pics I see looks like a great addition to anyone's steelbook collection who want the film Oldboy in it. Also no printed text on the back which will make foreigners from other Countries want this more and thus the demand go up for this.

And the back art with the gun to the head? Could Germany even get art like that approved? I know they are pretty darn strict in regards to things like that.

Had this been a new remaster on the disc with new extras, etc i would've kept my order

Got to admit I am rather underwhelmed by the finish on this, was expecting to be blown over but I am not. Don't get me wrong it is a nice looking Steel just not the wow factor I was expecting.

I agree with you on this one,after all the hype it's had I also feel a little underwhelmed,don't get me wrong though still a lovely steel but not the best!now to watch it for the first time!!

you guys are so spoiled by steels.

No doubt. Go into any HMV store these days and there's usually quite a selection of steels to choose from, including some really nice ones. It never used to be that way. Oldboy is one of the better ones, but in-hand it does look a bit dark for a neon-lit street scene and maybe lacks a little of the dazzle that early previews hinted at. It might sound uncharitable to criticise but that's the thought that occurs when you first open the packet and clap eyes on it. It's a minor negative to what is otherwise a great release. As you say, the competition is tough now!

That is gonna make this one very in demand over the years.

Best grab a few now then while it's still in stock.

Nice pics guys

For around £9.99 like earlier play waves this year i would of bought a few of these, but I personally don't like how play are creeping up the price on these 1 disc, no "Premium Finish" catalog releases. If it wasn't xmas time, and if there weren't soooooo many other must have steels coming out maybe I may of got some anyway?

Also choice of inside artwork is below par imo, tho this is a great release for any big fan of the movie

I love the effect on the neon lights. I might be in the minority but I love this a lot more than BR. So much more stylish.

Well they tried to make them stand out by adding some bling effect whether its subtle or not.

I guess we should just not give any details pre-release if people are going to rip through the wordplay...

I think the artwork on the exterior is fantastic colours bright and vivid excellent artwork and for less than twelve pounds I think it's a bargain considering the quality of the film I don't think the interior artwork is the best they could have come up with but to each his own would be cool if they released the rest of the vengeance trilogy in steelbook too fingers crossed ay....
