How many people open their Steelbooks when they buy them or do you just leave them sealed.

So far i have 13 Steelbooks and have opened 3 i opened Angels and Demons,Inglorious Bastards and District 9.

I fear if i open my pirates and nightmare before christmas ones i will have to modify them to be able to put the discs in and not have them in a sleeve

Quick Question!

Someone has probably posted this before but im at work and in a rush!!

I have quite a descent collection of steelbooks now, some oop some not.. I cant bring myself to open half of them!

Who opens their steelbooks and who leaves them sealed???

I just received finding nemo and i have jungle book and little mermaid pre ordered!! I dont think il want to open them when they arrive! kind of pointless collecting blu rays but i cant help it lol!

I was sat with my life of pi 3d steelbook getting worked up last night wodnering wether to open it or just go and buy the ordinary 3d version and leave it sealed!!

HelP!!

I open mine and if you are not going to sell them on then I see no point in keeping them sealed, just enjoy them and stop worrying about the value, also if you keep them sealed you never know if you have a mint copy, I'm sure there are lots of people who think they have mint copies but aren't.

Its not because i want to sell them... i wouldnt bother with the hassel to make a few quid proffit!

They feel more collectable when sealed, but seams silly to buy all my favourite films twice! I think im just gona go home and open them all and get it over with!

Might leave my amazon skyfall sealed as i have the ordinary copies! But il open the rest lol!

yeah I know what you mean mate, I kept a few sealed when I first started collecting and then I thought it really is pointless, opened them up and my FS The Town copy had a few small dents that I didn't even notice and I thought I had a perfect copy, we pay more for steelbooks we should just try to enjoy them:thumbs:

Decision is deffinately made lol.. my mum txt me on Sat night saying can i watch Life of pi??

I replied NO!! LEVE IT SEALED!!

She sent one back saying why the f did you buy it just to put it on your shelf lol!

its up to u mate but I know I felt much better after I opened mine:hilarious: and as you said its a pain having to buy it again when you already own it, hope you's enjoy the movie;)

I open my Steelbooks.

I generally only buy them for the films I really like and want to watch them. The only one I haven't brought for liking the film and was a blind buy was my Scott Pilgrim Steelbook, though this was also the first Blu-ray I brought about 3 months before I even brought my Blu-ray player.

I do keep my steels in plastic sleeves and display most of them on me selves though.

Its wierd..when i find one is quite high in value it makes me not want to open it. But at the same time i have no intention of selling any of them! they just look nice sealed!

like the zavvi exclusives!! when jungle book and little mermaid arrive i will feel like i dont want to open them! but i wont want to sell them either!

yh im getting to that stage now to that im not sure whether to open my rarer steels even though im not planning on selling them on.

ill defiantly be opening my JB & LM. im just torn between opening my T2 Korean & Blufan releases. I brought the t2 amaray here in UK as i wouldnt of been able play the region a locked disc of T2 but ive a few weeks back i released my blu ray could be region free with a small update, which ive now done, so im now torn on whether or not to open T2. As for blufans i think they're going to be to nice not to open.

It sounds like you're playing it safe by keeping the potentially valuable ones sealed. Although you have no plans to sell them now, there might be something in the back of your mind telling you that you might need to sell them in future for some reason. This is an entirely natural dilemma I think.
