I wish it had come down in price from the initial blufans releases. I thought this was a good movie and the packaging kicks ass. Let's hope $60 covers everything.

Yeah too rich for my blood to own both so ordered the 3D slip only. Also had to factor in that Monsters Inc. [Kimchi] should be available for pre order at the end of the month. Had to ease up on this expensive hobby...

that's why i had to get another job! lol....now i'm happy i can get all of them! lol

Yeah a 2nd job is pretty much the best way to maintain this hobby. Might have to start freelancing just dont know where to look. :dunno: But for 2 your looking at $120+...wanted to bite on both just cant do it at this time.

I just know that if I put my name down for this Zavvi will announce one in a couple of months. Decisions, decisions...

It's hard to hear good things about this film... :hilarious:

Well, let's start now :) : I was lucky enough to see Oz : The Great and the Powerful in IMAX and I enjoyed it a lot. It was visually breathtaking at times, the world of Oz is a lush, colorful feast for the eyes.

The 3D is excellent, I especially remember the intro or the tornado as moments where it's a downright spectacular use of this technology I'm not usually fond of.

Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz : that's a perfect trio of supporting actresses right there. As for James Franco, he might be smirking a lot but he didn't stop me from enjoying the spectacle, his attitude actually fits the Wizard imo. I'm usually allergic to little sidekicks who are basically comic reliefs for the kids, but Zach Braff's "portrayal" of the monkey was actually not a bother at all.

Sam Raimi has lots of ideas — how the Evil Witch is defeated is through an ode to the magic of cinema, oddly enough. I wasn't spoiled on a major twist regarding the fate of one character, in fact I've never seen The Wizard of Oz, I wasn't familiar with that universe, but that didn't stop me from being thoroughly entertained.

I'm very worried about the sequel because Sam Raimi dropped off, but regarding this opus, the magic of this incredibly dazzling, detailed wonderland has won me over. Therefore I'm happily buying this gorgeous steelbook.

Now, that'd be really twisted if Zavvi waits until these BF items are sent to the hubs to announce an Oz : Great and Powerful steelbook of their own. They'd have nothing to gain from that, unless they expect everyone to double-dip, something I will never do — DVD to Blu-ray : sure ; amaray to steelbook : okay ; but having two steelbooks of the same film : nope.

I'm saying that because Wreck-It Ralph's Zavvi steelbook was conveniently announced days after the long-awaited BluFans steelbooks were sent. Come on, that's a weird coincidence. I would've been all over Zavvi's edition if I had not bought BluFans', and if Zavvi had announced it a few months ago, then they'd have had another customer. The back might be disappointing but the rest is wonderful, and for €25 instead of €65, I'm willing to overlook minor disagreements.

That didn't happen though, and I'm really glad I'll have the Blufans edition, but if they're doing the same thing with Oz then I'll really wonder what's Zavvi's endgame there, it's not like they're getting a cut from BluFans. Or maybe they just want to empty our pockets, as simple as that .

I not say that it was a stinker, I do understand that there were good and bad things unfortunately for me I found that there were more bad things than good.

But I do not deny that the special effects, sets were impressive and James Franco in the role of the magician.
Aside from that, the scenario is commonplace.

And finally, I totally understand why some people liked the movie. :)

Although I'm 100% sure that this will be a very nice edition I've got to skip this as September will be very pricy already. Nevertheless I'm excited to see pictures of it taken by lucky possessors :)
