Come on man!!! Somone has to pay and it ends up being the consumer with this type of thinking.

I have never refused any delivery nor will I ever. You need to owe up to your decisions.

You know what's ironic about that? Amazon suggests this themselves if your too late to cancel. If it was bad for their business I don't think they would offer it up as a solution. That's great that you've never refused a delivery, neither have I, but I'm not going to lecture someone because they thought about it

Hard to say if this is glossy. Japan's quality shrinkwrapping makes it difficult to determine if its the steelbook or shrinkwrap that's reflecting light. The colours look more brighter than if it was a matte finish. I'll have to check with my FS version tonight.

The cards/comic are underneath the datasheet as there is lump in the back.

I chose the Y150 gift wrap.

What were you guys expecting really? Eventhough there was a little hope the finish will be different, we all knew it would pretty much be the same as FS. And it still come with all the extras as the mock up suggests. And JP Warner steels rarely/never have anything special slip wise, as the mockup also suggests. Looks like peeps were fooled into false hype with this one some how if yall were expecting more. I still want it for the extras but not at that price but not at that price.

I agree. First thing that came to mind when seeing this was an extra $30-40 (not even factoring in customs) for about 5 cents (may have under-exaggerated this a little) worth of printed paper included as extras. No wonder retailers are getting away with charging 20+ pounds for single disc, no effort releases.

Guys, help me out here: I don't get why you're all so upset.

They've provided what they've promised right from the start (the inserts, the extras, the illustrations used, etc).

I chose this over Future Shop's release, because hey, having an additional voice track option is nice, and the illustration they're using for the cover is IMO the best one out there. Win-win for me.

*Edit: I guess it boils down to a glossy/matte surface being a deal breaker. It's matte.

It's still an exclusive package with the booklet and art cards + it's sold out. I'm glad I ordered it - I'm not disappointed :). Of course, a nice slip or glossy finish would have been better, but this will still look great next to my UK 3D version!

I'm just disappointed that there is no slip, but it was to me a gamble worth taking as you still get all the extras you don't get from all the other editions. And more importantly, it is a steelbook, not a Metalpak like Korea's!

As for gloss vs matte, I'm one who is very happy with matte finish with some metallic shine to it. It has the true look and feel of steel. And a much more lasting look than gloss. Gloss finish on a steel looks the same as any gloss print on a card. The underlying steel hardly matters.

Worse still, gloss finish is so easily scratched just running your fingers over its surface. When I got my first gloss steelbook, MI Ghost Protocol, it was instantly ruined by fine scratches the moment I ran my fingers over its surface. In contrast, you could keep running your fingers over matte finish steel and not end up with a scratch. And it really feels so smooth and nice to touch.

Probably because Japan have a good track record with deluxe packaging, and given that this movie is expressly designed to appeal to Japanese audiences (partly set in Tokyo, Japanese co-star, lots of cultural references), it was reasonable to hope that they might pull out the stops with this one. Even Warner, who tend to skimp on presentation, issued The Dark Knight Rises with unique packaging in Japan, so there was cause for optimism that they might have done something a little bit more special here.

Maybe in hindsight it was a bit naive to hope for that though. The reality is that the movie didn't do particularly well in Japan, and that slips seem to be largely a thing of the past on major studio releases anyway. All the same, it's still a disappointment to many of us that the final product looks so generic and uninspired.

Thanks, teddyjun. It has to be said that superior print and manufacturing quality are things that Japan CAN be relied upon to turn out, even when the packaging leaves something to be desired.

Thank You for the beautiful photos pbtour4il!!! I love this Japanese release and all the items and stickers that differentiate it from other releases!!! I can't wait to get mine! :oohyeah:

Thank You for the cool comparison photos teddyjun, great job!!! :scat:

Thanks Teddy! When I got my copy I did think its better than the FS version and looked similar to the metalpak version. From memory, I think the metalpak version is still the best version with this artwork. The super high gloss and very high resolution print is better.
