The disc will be the same as the new US Special Edition

Here's something that's made me very happy. From the PR company -

Hi Matt,

I hope you are well, please find attached the press release for Pain & Gain. I am pleased to confirm that the UK release will feature the same extras as the US special edition release.

Kind Regards

Kerry

Latest update from Zavvi
Still waiting on finalised artwork.

The finishes are overall matte varnish, except for a spot UV gloss on Mark and Dwayne on the front cover.

There’s a pantone red on their names on the front cover, and emboss on the title treatment.

Confirmed as 1000 units only and from the traffic and questions we are getting, think this will only last a couple of days at the most before selling out.

Just fyi, in order to secure a smaller amount of steelbooks in any country, whether it's a split run or a tiny run (like in China), there is a higher starting price.

Buy more, pay less per unit.

Not defending anyone's pricing strategy, just saying that's how it works.

I know. Was jesting :)

Thanks ricster ;)
Damn! so is that the last of the stock gone, or are Zavvi structuring the pre-order link?

Andy said there was a restriction of 5, so if people ordered more than that, there may be some more cancellations and it could appear again. Whether they'll tell Andy we'll have to wait and see.

I can't wait for the first real HDN exclusive. 500 copies or 1K. Doesn't matter what it is but super hi glossed, great artwork. I see laser etching could well be taking off as well :)

We can be as big as blufans :D

Sorry if thus is a dumb question, but has this gone live again because the stock status in OP has changed to just out of stock?

It went live at 3pm this afternoon. Didn't last long.

Thats strange I have subscribed to this thread just before going out on the backshift & didnt get any notifications all afternoon ? Then when I tried to sign in earlier I got the Forum front page with the rush add & coming soon note.

Subscriptions working again but just a tad late me thinks :(

Yeh, i didn't get any notifications either, and i'm subscribed to get an email every post, so that's weird :dunno:

Don't you only get an email on the first post since you visited the page, not an email for every post? :dunno:

On another note, how are we going to distinguish this steel from other countries if Zavvi haven't got any form of sticker to distinguish it was a Zavvi UK release? Those that missed out on this could order elsewhere from the other 3k to get the exact same steel (maybe even with an exclusive sticker from another country's store)

You could use a felt marker and write ZAVVI EXCLUSIVE on the steel.

I'm assuming it will have the only ENGLISH J-card?? And of course UK and Irish ratings stickers.

That's the point I left for work around 12.30 & didn't receive any notifications. I only ever set them up if I need to monitor exactly this type of thing, yes you have to sign in on receipt of one so you'll get the next which I can do I just can't sit with a constant open browser

I get my little boy to scratch my name on all my steelbooks in case they get stolen. Works really well when I was burgled they took everything but the steelbooks.

BBFC rating logo on the front - Either stickers or on the J-card (if it has one). Obviously if you open it, peel off the stickers, or are buying a plain pre-owned SteelBook off of eBay minus a J-card, then you would have no idea of the origin, although the BBFC rating on the disc inside would be a giveaway (assuming someone hasn't inserted a British Amaray disc inside a foreign imported SteelBook shell)

A German release, for example, would have a huge USK rating logo on the SteelBook / J-card and the Blu-Ray disc, allowing you to differentiate between a German and British release. Likewise, if some of the 3,000 other copies are sold as an American or Canadian exclusive (Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Future Shop etc), then these would be instantly identifiable by their respective ratings
