The disc will be the same as the new US Special Edition

Here's something that's made me very happy. From the PR company -

Hi Matt,

I hope you are well, please find attached the press release for Pain & Gain. I am pleased to confirm that the UK release will feature the same extras as the US special edition release.

Kind Regards

Kerry

Latest update from Zavvi
Still waiting on finalised artwork.

The finishes are overall matte varnish, except for a spot UV gloss on Mark and Dwayne on the front cover.

There’s a pantone red on their names on the front cover, and emboss on the title treatment.

Confirmed as 1000 units only and from the traffic and questions we are getting, think this will only last a couple of days at the most before selling out.

Just cancelled mine, shouldn't be too long before they put all the cancelled ones back up to order, the same way they've done with the disney titles. Good luck to everyone:thumbs:

Yeah its weird because the disney titles have gone on sale, sold out and then now been put back on sale. No movement on this despite there being many cancellations! Oh well, as long as I grab one when it becomes available I'll be happy!:scat:

Its definitely strange that it hasn't gone back up yet and no one here at hdn have any info about this ( especially as we were given plenty of notice about the disneys going back up). It may be possible that zavvi wanted to get the re sell for disney done first?? Trying to think of reasons why zavvi are waiting but I'm coming up empty.. hopefully hdn will get word on this soon, cos when its a limited steel of a movie we want to own badly, we're all on the edge of our seats for updates. I really hope you get one:thumbs:

Thanks man. Im usually pretty on the ball with these pre orders, especially the limited ones. I think I was in Japan when this one went up for pre order and it went in no time! With the amount of people cancelling on here alone though I'm fairly confident I'll be able to get one! :ohno:

I missed ordering it the first time around and when it went up again after zavvi cancelled some of the orders (from customers who had ordered more than 5 copies) it was people here at HDN who alerted me to the time of day it was to go back on sale (so helpful, thank you hdn).. so I think ur in with a great chance of grabbing yourself a copy if u keep up with this thread.
I only cancelled cos since making my pre order I have seen the film and decided it has no re watch value to me.. and I buy steelbooks for films I watch again and again, thats why I hope all who love this movie get a chance at it:scat:

Ps.. only just noticed the cute christmas tree instead of "ninja".. thanks hdn.. think I need to put a santa hat on my avatar:D

I enjoyed it, it does have re watch value for me at least. I like your style, it's smart to base purchases on re watch value because if you don't your money bites the dust and the movie just sits there and collects it.

I have a few SB's on my shelf that I look at and go "why on earth do I own that" lol..I've come to realise that the steelbook's that contain movies i'm not that fond of make me feel like I'm wasting space and money.. I have loads of SB's that i love which have great art and are great films. . Thinking like that helps me with this hobby as there are so many SB's released and I get into OCD mode and just wanna buy everything then I ask myself if it is just going to be an ornament? ?The answer is usually what saves me money. This is one heck of an addictive hobby.. loads of fun too.. always collected films and now they come in shiny boxes, , brilliant:scat:

I think this steelbook should look quite good but I don't feel like I need to watch it twice, took me quite a while to decide to cancel tho (OCD):D

I saw this video on Youtube, It's not the UK version and the video isn't in English, but it might give some people a better idea of what they're getting:

(kicks in 1:30 - 3:30)

Personally I think it looks as good as it could have. I would have preferred no border, but I do like the title.
I like the black finish as it's not just plain, and I can't see any streaks like the cheap matt.
And of course the gloss on the characters is always good.
Plus I really like the film, so i'm looking forward to getting mine from Zavvi. It may have been a bit expensive but 1k in the UK, probably just 4k worldwide, for one of my favorite films of the year, nice steelbook... as long as it comes undamaged, i'll be happy.

Some print screens from the video if you don't want to watch it:

I cancelled mine this morning. Just cant bring myself to pay 23 quid for a single disc cheap streaky steel of a film that MIGHT be good.

It's a good movie. I saw it on the plane thinking it might be a dud.

Then I saw the words "Directed by Michael Bay" and knew I would be in for at least a cheap thrill ride. Was lots of fun, but the cover/poster is totally misleading. It looks like a workout film, but it is actually a huge heist film with lots of black humour (a la Pulp Fiction).

Very poorly marketed.
