The disc will be the same as the new US Special Edition

Here's something that's made me very happy. From the PR company -

Hi Matt,

I hope you are well, please find attached the press release for Pain & Gain. I am pleased to confirm that the UK release will feature the same extras as the US special edition release.

Kind Regards

Kerry

Latest update from Zavvi
Still waiting on finalised artwork.

The finishes are overall matte varnish, except for a spot UV gloss on Mark and Dwayne on the front cover.

There’s a pantone red on their names on the front cover, and emboss on the title treatment.

Confirmed as 1000 units only and from the traffic and questions we are getting, think this will only last a couple of days at the most before selling out.

I guess I'm the only one thinking this is going back up for pre order. No worries here. Just an old gimmick... Make it available for a few minutes, then mark it as sold out... Create panic, hysteria, buzz, etc...put it back up, then all hell breaks loose and gets everybody rushing to place an order. Works every time like a charm

I don't think putting it up for half an hour and taking it down again would achieve what you're saying there.

Most people didn't even know it had gone live by the time it had sold out as it went live an hour before the expected time.

I'm guessing there might be a few more copies available nearer release, but you'll have to be damn quick or lucky to grab one :dunno:

You´re kidding right?
Have you ever read the "Zavvi - SteelBook Retailer Thread"?

If your Steelbook gets damaged, send it back and see if you can get a replacement. If you can't, get a refund. You shouldn't prevent others who want it by exploiting the fact you can order as many limited edition collector's items you like for yourself and making it sell out faster. Not very good "collectorship" is it.

There's a population of the people that do this who go "now what should I do with these 9 remaining Pain & Gain Steelbooks? I know! I'll rip people off and immediately put it on eBay for £10 above the original selling price!"

At least I'm honest!

You just made my point even more legit. Nobody knew about it, which means NOBODY ordered. Mark my word, it'll be available again. What I said isn't happening? Just look at all of the posts regarding this being sold out. They achieved what they wanted to get.To add more to my point. They got you on stand by ready to order. Another mission accomplished.

The whole reason that some people ordered more than one copy is that now at least they're guaranteed a replacement copy (wether that will arrive mint or not also, who knows?) if their original turns up damaged. And from Zavvis packaging and track record, this is a smart thing to do.

There are seasoned collectors who act quick and know what they are doing, and there, unfortunately, are the amatuers who miss a trick from time to time.

It's the way it's always been and always will be unfortunately.

What I meant was, half an hour is hardly enough time to cause mass panic/hysteria unless they truly ran out of copies. I could understand taking it down even after a day (like Rambo etc...) but this was always going to be popular and some were going to miss out unfortunately.

Liam125 - have you ever tried to return a damaged steel? (keep in mind the majority are ordering from abroad....more chance of them arriving dented)

Zavvi have proved time and time again, if you receive a damaged steel the usual answer is they haven't got any extras to send a replacement so they offer a refund.

Next day they put 500+ online to sell ;) Lack of communication between their warehouse + CS is terrible, let alone to the paying public.

Yep maybe not with an English J Card but almost certainly won't cost any more than this one did.

Well, you say "nobody", but then... https://twitter.com/zavvi

I did not order this, but I am actually happy to see more limited releases. I hope we see more:scat:

I have to agree, I would love to see more limited releases from Zavvi.
(Which might stop them having so many excess stock, that they need to reduce prices shortly after release ala Evil Dead 2)

1000 K run is exactly what the steel community needed after months of 4000 k runs. I think it was odd to choose this movie but I'm not gonna complain about it as it wasn't That bad. I'm glad to see that it sold out so quickly because it shows how much attention HDN is getting from us. I think the main thing we should all take in to consideration is that if it wasn't for this Thread on this Site then no one would have known anything AT ALL. Let's give a :thanks: to HDN and it's hard working staff for even making this event possible and don't worry about the shoulda, coulda, woulda.:thumbs:

I haven't seen this film yet and would've been a blind buy, was more interested in the collectors aspect and if the movie is good that would've been a massive bonus.. I too, like many others missed it by 20 mins. Would've loved to have caught it but with only a thousand there are gonna be some disappointed collector's. . Myself being one of them, but u never know, it could come back on:D
I am genuinely happy for people who did manage to get a copy ordered :scat:

For the people who ordered more than 1 copy, personally i think its up to you how many u order for whatever the reason, we shouldn't complain if people want to buy an extra cos of potential damage (I got the ES Star trek which arrived damaged and was out of stock so I couldn't get a replacement, could of done with an extra order on that one).

Its up to the retailer to decide how many a customer can buy, and as it stands zavvi are happy to sell it to first come first served whatever the quantity.

Like people have said, there will likely be other releases. People could still order when others cancel. And if you can not possibly live without this then we will have to save up for an ebay copy.
