The disc will be the same as the new US Special Edition

Here's something that's made me very happy. From the PR company -

Hi Matt,

I hope you are well, please find attached the press release for Pain & Gain. I am pleased to confirm that the UK release will feature the same extras as the US special edition release.

Kind Regards

Kerry

Latest update from Zavvi
Still waiting on finalised artwork.

The finishes are overall matte varnish, except for a spot UV gloss on Mark and Dwayne on the front cover.

There’s a pantone red on their names on the front cover, and emboss on the title treatment.

Confirmed as 1000 units only and from the traffic and questions we are getting, think this will only last a couple of days at the most before selling out.

Will 'hopefully' get it with a nice slip to go with from Taiwan when it gets listed there :p :naughty:

Not really. You can still get it in eBay for double the retail price. To me the value determines Grail status and not just it's rarity.

Absolutely. It's demand, not numbers that creates a 'grail' and, therefore, a high price. I've got a few Czech steels with production runs in the 100-200 range. They're practically worthless because only a few people want them.

Roger and T2 kimchi are both GREAT examples of a steel that will grow on value and demand, but both can be found on eBay for double (or less) the retail cost. If I had to guess at a potential grail, it would be one of the latest releases. I'd go with Iron Man 3 from Korea with the type B "corrected" cover. Only 100 were made and we all know the potential for an Iron Man movie as a grail. Popular title + limited release = grail. And in terms of eBay, this steel hasn't even been out a month, and the price (if you can find one) has already quadrupled (only one I've seen is $199+shipping) retail cost.

Now that's a grail!!!!! :scat: :scat: :scat: :scat: :scat:

For three months after release eBay had FS Iron Man for $60 and there were thousands of those released.

So it seems there is a special edition being announced soon in the US which will have a load of extras on...... if that's the case and this steelbook is barebones I'll be cancelling and I'll get the US release

This is not quite accurate. Originally one Korean retailer (KimchiDVD) arranged to have their allocation (100 copies) returned to Disney Korea and re-packaged.

Then at least one other Korean retailer (K-Steelbook) arranged for the same.

So nobody knows for sure how many Korean IM3 releases have the correct packaging and how many are reversed, but it's probably quite a bit more than 100 for the corrected packaging.

You can read about this in the Korean IM3 thread starting, e.g., here.

I don't see how a mass produced Steelbook can be a grail. For me a grail is a release nearly everyone wants, I don't think many care for the Korean version when so many other versions are available. Yes it is valuable but that doesn't mean it's a grail in my view. In any case, it is a discussion for another thread.
