Staircases are used to magnify the social divide between the luxury of the Parks' home and the semi-basement of the Kims' abode.
Speaking about a social divide and staircases you've only to watch an episode of the classic British series "Upstairs, Downstairs" from the 1970s to see that the domestic servants spend all their time downstairs (in the basement where the kitchen is located ... to keep cooking smells as far away from the family as possible) - when they aren't attending to their family - and they have a separate staircase to get to their bedrooms in the roof space.
Apart from that the director has admitted his obsession with stairs, "You can say that I'm a lover of stairs".

I did understand WHY they are using stairs, except the part about Bong Joon-ho, that I didnt know, so thanks for that
BUT I think that doesnt make stairs more appealing as an image. Using stairs as a metaphor once is more than enough, especially for a movie that uses all kinds of visual languages in nearly every frame and in such a great quality, that they even would be a better Steebook art

Love the look of this but I wish the white slip was the steel art. Love that art, looks great on the vinyl too.

It’s annoying that the white slip comes with a essay book instead of the picture book though. Will clearly not be in English. Hate it when this happens, want one slip but the extras that come with the other
