These aren't numbered, so I don't know why you are buying it if you don't want it. It would be different if there was Zavvi Disney Number xx on them, but there is no way of actually saying they are part of a collection.

I agree but I personally want the collection, I dont want 1-4 6-20. The completionist in me wouldn't like it.

its not a collection. there was obviously no plan for a collection way back when they released finding nemo. no whisper of a collection then. zavvi are simply making it up as they are going along.

they are only calling it a collection because they are more marketable that way. but its not a not a real collection.

the ghibli collection is more of a collection. i think those will be numbered (ghiblis always are) and the steelbooks have a design theme that runs throughout the collection. thats what you achieve with vision and planning. something the so called zavvi disney collection has absolutely nothing of.

Insanity. I will never buy a movie I truly don't want or like just to complete a collection.

It's not insanity. Most people on this site own atleast one bad movie for some reason. This will be my first because I'm a collector, on a collectors site. I'm spending all the extra money to get the steelbooks. Might aswell get all of them?

It is insanity if it will drive you up the wall thinking that something is missing even if that something is something you hate and don't really want. That is insane IMHO but far be it from me to stop anyone from being crazy. Spend away sir. I'll save my money for stuff I like and want to have in my collection.

Jesus christ :hilarious: it doesn't affect me that much :hilarious: it's a film, i'll own it, it will be in my collection and i'll watch it a few times haha. I want it in my collection too so I ordered it.

I don't hear people pissing and moaning about Wreck it Ralph being part of the Disney line. I don't understand the Planes hate.

This has been answered but the Disney OCD in me has to elaborate. Films created by Walt Disney Animation Studios are dubbed "Disney Classics" (regardless of quality, age, or actual "classic" status). There are currently 52, including everything from Snow White, Peter Pan, and Fantasia to Tangled, with the most recent being Wreck it Ralph. These titles were all created at the same studio, and therefore "belong" together.

Planes, on the other hand, was created at DisneyToon studios. This is the studio that does spinoffs and sequels, and sends everything to be animated overseas. This includes the direct to video sequels from the 90s and early 2000s, as well as the more recent Tinkerbell films. Planes is their most recent. It was made by a completely separate studio and is the only one in the collection not labeled a "classic" by Disney themselves.

When all the films in a collection are made by a single studio, except one random one... Well, that's dumb, in my opinion. Regardless of the films quality.

With the number of steelbooks coming out, I have to be a tad more selective about which ones I purchase, now I might buy planes if it comes down in price or becomes part of multi-save deal, but other than that I would much rather spend that £20 on something else, that I know I will like, and yes from time to time I do take a shot in the dark and blind buy a film which I think I will like.

I still reckon peeps are gonna have to get used to it, more Planes films are coming and something that can't be said enough is... it's the Disney Collection, not the Disney Classics Collection. If it's under the Disney umbrella it qualifies regardless of who makes it should they choose to put it under the Collection bracket. I'm just thankful it's mostly films like this we're getting so far, this should look nice if glossy.

I agree but the live action films and who framed roger rabbit don't qualify in the collection so what does and what doesnt? Anyway, I'm getting planes, if you don't want to, thats your choice (speaking to everyone) :) Lets get back to Peter Pan, its a great looking steelbook like all of them so far and I hope it's glossy :scat:

I don't see why it really matters that Planes is part of this collection. If Zavvi release every single Disney Classic plus Planes, then I don't really see the issue. If they were to release Planes instead of one of the Classics, then there would be a problem. I prefer the way this 'collection' is being handled anyway. I wouldn't want to have anything identify it as a collection because the Steelbook world is changing all the time. If for some reason Zavvi were to stop releasing them, then you wouldn't be left with a stupid looking half collection like what happened with the Bond releases in Canada/USA. You would just have some really cool looking Disney Steelbooks :)

I think at the time, they had so many options. There were only 4 and we were hoping for lion king, robin hood etc etc The greats. They could've gone with them but instead they chose planes. Now they're doing more and more on the right track, I'm fine with it being planes.

Lion King has a great steelbook as well as a really nice Viva Metalpak. It would be at the very bottom of my wish list to get another right now. I am really happy that Zavvi has managed to avoid and redundancies and has so far given us all new never before made G2 Disney Steels.

Although I like the steelbook for lion king, I think it looks too dull compared to the zavvi steelbooks and there are improvments that could be made on it. The viva is also nice but for people like me who don't own anything other than steelbooks, it's not an option. I agree with you, unique releases are better, but I'd still love to see a lion king steelbook with the 3D amaray art if nothing original like the Taiwan etc version. This would also make a nice steelbook that matches the other releases from zavvi.

Isn't Lion King offically back in the vault right now anyway? The likelihood that Disney would take it out just for an exclusive Steelbook is a very unlikely likelihood.

Yeah, I think it is although I'm not too sure about the vault, hasn't there been exceptions before? The demand on here for a lion king steelbook seems to be quite high, if Zavvi intend to make many more disney steelbooks which I assume they do, they'll have to work something out :naughty:
