Pics Of Your Last Art Print Acquired

geez, how much wall space do you have?!? Awesome pick-ups though. I missed out on that Dave Perillo.

I'm having to be really selective with my next few purchases. I have enough wall space, but I don't want my house to look tacky or overrun with movie & tv posters. #keepingitclassy

I've come to find out there are diff types of collectors in regards to prints too blumaster ... whats your real name again ... kinda feels weird calling you master... LOL.

BM perhaps... ;)

Anyhoo ... There are those like me who keep thinking about wall space (perhaps you as well then) and then those like Rose and perhaps White Rat who I presume will eventually buy or make a "Flat File". Then when they want to appreciate diff arts they flip through the flat file.

I have a store near me that sells used media and they also have a flat file in there where they store all the posters they buy and resell from people. It actually seems like it would be easy to make just a bit of wood needed.

For simple storage I heard some good ways ... simply two big foamboards with prints in between and under the bed. Tho perhaps if stocking up on trade bait or future sells ... but if buying to enjoy you arent enjoying under your bed. ;)

lol yeah I actually hate the name "blumaster". Definitely the worst forum tag I've ever given myself. But I made the decision and I won't go back on it. Jeff is the name, Jeff Master, but my friends just call me Master. :p j/k

I think if I let myself get really into the hobby, like to the point where I was making a file, I'd just end up with a bunch of cool looking pieces of paper that I'd only look at when I move or am just really high, which coincidentally is like everyday. So again, coincidentally, this flat file business is sounding like a pretty great idea. :p

So what you're really saying is that you are really that blue guy on your avatar. :rasta:

Watch the DIY channel. Easy ways to add additional rooms to your house or dwelling for more wall space. When is enough really enough? :dunno:

The difference is ... I'm limited to one room.:emb: If I tried putting stuff around the rest of the house the wife would have me... :dead::shoot:

:tear:

That alien would make DB jealous!

Wait til I can get a pic of the glow in the dark layer!

And i could really use a flat file. Storing mine under the bed right now. I think when it comes to Rose and I, we are accumulating trade bait for those hard to find prints. I for one certainly don't plan on putting everything I've posted on the wall.

I too have the wall space and a lot of it, but it won't be a bunch of movie posters side by side where you don't see the wall at all. ;) We are just waiting to paint those rooms to start hanging the framed ones. There is a thought (dream) in any collector’s head of a grand museum like space to display all your collectibles for you to enjoy. Then you wake up. :(

When it comes to movies and prints you like, you justify that you will frame and hang one day. Eventually you have to realize whether that will actually happen or not. If you get everything framed and intend to switch out every few months (years), storing those framed pieces would be a *****!

Yeah, when you get into any hobby late and don't jump in from the beginning, you have to build up trading chips to get to the big items that are out of your reach financially. Unless you are the Donald Trump type and just buy everything you want at premium prices, but where is the fun in collecting in that? :p It is a slow process of letting some collectibles appreciate in value so that you can get to that point, but that is part of the fun in it all. Look at the members on here who pick a certain SB and buy it up like crazy knowing it will only rise in value. IM Play.com is just one example I have seen this with. :naughty: Now, if a rerelease happens. EEK! That is what is great about the print world, is there are not reprints of most of art that is out there. Note, some artists do multiple runs of their own art, but anything commissioned ends at that print run.

I buy some prints that I really like and have the intention in my head of hanging one day, but at the same time I would not be butthurt if I had to trade or sell them later down the road. Those pieces will sit in the flat file until that ultimatum comes around (Frame, hang, trade or sell). There are others that will never leave my hands (never say never) and will sit in the flat file until I can afford or get around to framing them.

The difference is ... I'm limited to one room.:emb: If I tried putting stuff around the rest of the house the wife would have me... :dead::shoot:

Boy, I got lucky there. My wife is actually excited to get some of this up on the wall. She will have her prints, we will have our prints and I will have my prints up. Now, some will be restricted to my small man cave, i.e. Hellraisers. Not that she wouldn't allow me to hang them, but having the conversation with guests about "Jesus Wept" is not something I am interested in. ;)

Man, I need a blacklight! Gave mine away in the 90s and never thought I would need one again. :emb:

As Wreck said about the sandwiching between to pieces of foam core is how I store them and travel to and fro with. That is until I get around to transferring to this new addition to the living room. :naughty:

So if I move back to Texas rose ... we could just go half and half and buy us a warehouse and covert it to the ultimate man cave!

Best idea I have heard yet or have come up with on my own! We could just buy an old movie theater!

Was contemplating buying a movie theater that was for sale a few years ago, haha!

where did you buy this from. i would love one when my collection expands??

I just googled "office furniture resale" in my area and found a few places that sell them used. Sadly, a lot of print shops are shutting down and blueprints are all on computers now. There are a lot of flat files out there that need homes.

Do your part & adopt one today.
