An update on the details from a Twitter conversation with someone within the Fox network... this is about the disc in general, NOT the steelbook

@FinnAtFox German listing for that Predator 3D Blu says the 2D copy included will just be the UHE disc. Is that true?

James Finn ‏@FinnAtFox 17h
@tylerfdvdtalk UK and Germany will release the Blu-ray 3D with the 2D BD disc (Ultimate Hunter Edition), including all the extras.

@FinnAtFox Thanks. Are we getting something different in the US?

James Finn ‏@FinnAtFox 15h
@tylerfdvdtalk same

@FinnAtFox But like other Fox 3D discs, you'll be able to view the new transfer in 3D and 2D on Disc 1?

James Finn‏@FinnAtFox @tylerfdvdtalk Yes, this disc has been authored to be viewed in 2D or 3D.

The 3D print is taken from a new transfer :)

I must be one of the very few to think the original (Play.com Steelbook) version wasn't actually that bad? :emb:

Is the 'Hunter' edition a different transfer from the UK Play.com version then again?

Its all down to personal tastes in the end. Personally the DNR version for me was laughable, But that was Fox trying to please your average consumer by making the film less "grainy". The original release was far from perfect but at least the grain was intact.

This film really deserves a proper remaster and overhaul and im glad that are Fox are doing something about it, Hopefully they dont balls it up again.

Also The Hunter Edition (DNR Version) was the one in the Play.Com Steelbook.

Why waste money by giving us a 2 disc set with this crap UHE included again !!
Just scrap it and make it a single disc release if the disc plays in both 2D & 3D and knock it down in price a little.

My disc 2 will be going straight down the shitter as a coffee coaster

I'd imagine the 3D disc will have little or no extras so they're including the UHE to cover all angles. Especially for people who might be buying the movie for the first time :dunno:

Heard about it being a new transfer ages ago but good to hear this confirmed

In a way I was hoping this wouldn't have a new transfer as it would've save me money but being an absoulute arnie classic with a new transfer this will be a must buy.

Now I just need to decide whether to sell my play.com before or after this release and most importantly buy this now or try and trade for it after release.

I've read the thread on BR too and from what I read nobody really knows about the new master, there's the possibility of a new master being based on the UHE version - anyway that's how I read it.

The inclusion of the 2D UHE disc is that it has the extras on it. There wouldn't be enough space on the 3D disc for them and this is the most financially economical way of including them rather than mastering a whole new extras disc.
