I hated it so much because the plot was basically nonsensical and the characters were the dumbest I've ever seen. This should have been intelligent and profound sci-fi....it was neither. Ok its not battlefield earth in terms of how bad it was but considering the talent involved I just don't see how this isn't the biggest movie making disaster of all time!? Great visuals for sure. I actually think this is worse than Alien resurection.

Worse than resurrection, no no no you must be joking :0) it's Friday the 13th not Aprils fools!

Well the price for the .fr edition has been revised down to €24.21 (from €29.99) for the 4-disc set on amazon.fr so I guess there's a possibility that Play.com could adjust their pricing. Would certainly be welcome but ordered it anyway.

£24! EEK! Talk about pricey!

I'm not sure if I will take the plunge on this one. I find £18 a push at times.

I seriously hope this is not a sign of the times with play.com's prices. A few introductory cheap deals till now and then they hit us with their intended prices from now on maybe? :wtf:

Wreak any idea if the price is likely to go down? I know a lot of people on here have already expressed concern with the cost and are hoping it will decrease but I very much doubt it from previous prices. Heck MI4 came back on at £7 more than before!

I'll hope for good news esp as I have the quadrilogy set.:emb:

This is great news and a must buy for me. The art looks great and I didn't mind the film either.

I doubt Play are cashing in on us, more that the costs are high on the 3D version and as Apsmith pointed out that was the only version which could get the steelbook treatment.

I'm just very grateful for a UK steelbook on this and it's safe to say I should get my order dent free too in their packaging

Given the great pricing we are getting from them on the catalogue releases I don't see that £24 is all that excessive on a blockbuster. And with the limited runs Play do on their steels I wouldn't be surprised if this one doesn't stay available until release date either

What a nice surprise for my inbox today :)

To those complaining about the price: wouldn't u rather pay a little more for a extra disc (3D) which is actually useful, future-proof even, than pay a little less for a POS DVD which would go straight into the trash?

Thank you play.com for a truly great looking steel, free of the DVD scum!
My wallet is not worthy!!

I don't think this is the case at all. The fact is that 3D discs command a higher premium which is reflected in the price of every 3D disc, not just steelbooks. I agree that it's a bit pricey though, and I would certainly have appreciated a sub-£20 price point. I will be interested to know the production numbers of this title though as it may be another very popular title and therefore there's a chance it may sell out. Don't want to wait for a price drop that may never come if it means I might miss out.

That doesn't apply to everyone though... you're just talking from your point of view.

For me, having a DVD copy would be more useful than a 3D copy. No one in my household owns or plans to buy a 3D TV, so obviously that disc would be useless to us. My family don't own a Blu-ray player either, so they often like to borrow my DVD copies.

I suppose you do have a point though... at least the 3D disc would be more valuable than the DVD, meaning we could probably sell it on and make a little profit if we really wanted to.

finally i keep up with you guys! i kept on reading and reading , 7 pages all ready! any how!, i liked the film and i must definitely will get the steel, i don't care about price if i like what i see and this one is a beauty...

Unless Canada gets this and the cover is better, I think I will get this one. It was great movie and knew after we walked out of the theater I'd be getting a steel for it. Now just need The Amazing Spider-Man :D
