With all of the announcements of upcoming movies being planned for 3D over the next few years, one would expect that whether or not an upcoming tentpole movie will be in 3D is going to replace the "PG-13 vs. R" question that most filmmakers tend to get. The latest movie that seems to be going that route is Ridley Scott and 20th Century Fox's planned Alien Prequel.

UK sci-fi site Shadow Locked had a chance to talk with art director Roger Christian who worked on Star Wars and Alien, and they asked him about the direction Scott might take with a prequel, the two of them having worked together on the original movie. Besides dropping the fact that it will be shot in 3D, he hinted at a possible trilogy in the franchise's future.

He told them: "Ridley's doing the next Alien in 3D. Ridley told me some of his ideas when we were here in Toronto. He has a very clear understanding of where this should go. They kind of stopped dead one of the greatest horror franchises there's ever been, and it had legs to go on. So I'm hoping he'll revive another three. The world certainly wants it, and the fans want it - everybody."

Christian met with Scott, but hasn't confirmed that he might be involved with the new prequel, reuniting the duo for the first time in over 30 years.

From Prometheus News:

As we’ve seen the international version of the full trailer depicting red blood as opposed to black in the U.S. version, many fans have already assumed that non-US versions would end up with a more mature rating for the movie’s theatrical release than what would be found stateside.

Earlier, it has been brought to our attention that some Spain based sites have been attaching the “18″ label to Prometheus, which is an equivalent of an NC-17 in the US. Though people stateside should not expect anything of this NC-17 sort, people yearning for an R-rating in the U.S. would be more hopeful with the pieces of info below:

Only got around to watching the trailer this evening, and since then have watched it a couple of times already.

To be honest I was a bit skeptical of this when it was first announced, but now I'm really looking forward to it.
Might have to watch Alien and Aliens blu-rays this weekend :movie:

My first time hearing about this movie was last night with this trailer. And now i see it has Charlize and idris elba in it i will have to check into it.

Oooh maaan now that's how you cut a Trailer!!! Even better than the previous ones! I really think this movie is gonna be right up there with the Alien! Ridley Scott is the ultimate master of this genre and im really glad he went back to Horror and Sci-Fy! :D

There's a new clip up. Can't post the link, sorry.

EDIT: Go here and scroll down to "Clips". Look for one dated 14 May 2012.

Oh man, I hate horror movies. With that being said, Prometheus is looking mighty nice, but I dunno what to expect.

I like Roomi Rapace, so I am almost convinced myself to go see it. lol The media assault for this movie is crazy so it's affecting my initial judgement of "Skip"

This movie is going to alter all our boxsets once again! There be a 5th movie that needs to be squeezed a long with the other 4. More money the studios make once again with their releases :) and Mehh for us :(

Looking forward to this. I've never seen the first 4 Aliens even though I own them though :emb: Fassbender is a big enough draw for me to see it :p

Really? You should watch the first 2 both are classics. Try and watch them back to back since the stories do overlap a bit.

3 & 4 were not very good imo

PS Forget The Avengers. ALIENS is the best action movie ever ;)

Alien and Aliens are ABSOLUTE CLASSICS!!!!!

Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection are good viewing as well but obviously not as brilliant as the first two!

You've never seen any of the Alien movies?!? Give me your address, I'll come over slap you across the face then sit you down in front of your TV and make you watch all 4 :D :naughty:

Alien and Aliens are fantastic. 3 & 4 whilst aren't great they are both worth a watch.

I certainly wouldn't go and watch Prometheus without seeing at least Alien and Aliens
