This didn't particularly sound very interesting to me, but heard great things so gave it a chance... regret it now though as it dragged like hell and the storytelling was a mess - one minute they're at each others throat, then the next they'll all smiles. It cut from one scene to the next with no explanation in between, so everything was super hard to follow and made absolutely no sense to me. Its only redeeming quality was Ben Mendelsohn and an occasional touching moment between certain characters.

Forgot to log this one after watching it the other night. Was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable it was... fairly violent too for what is basically a kids movie.

Dracula: Prince of Darkness   9th January 1966 blu-ray 5+
Sadly one of my favourite horror icons died today Barbara Shelley so I watched Dracula Prince of Darkness again in memory of her. Such an iconic star of the franchise which sadly means she was the last surviving star of the film. Al least we have the wonderful running commentary to remember her by

Picked up the new 88-films box set release for these films and if I'm honest I kinda wish I hadn't bothered :wow: Don't get me wrong the actual box set is really nice, brilliant art and nice extras so hats off to 88-films for their effort but as for the actual films, well I was hoping to enjoy them a lot more than I did and they just didn't do it for me :cautious:

Freddie prince JR was very hard to watch throughout the 2 films, shame they didn't kill him off in the first 5 mins, made it even harder to watch as I knew that he survived :D and don't get me started on JLH continuous screaming. All I kept thinking about in certain scenes in both films was anna Faris in Scary Movie.

Remembered them being better than they were, well the first 2 anyway. Didn't bother with the third as I knew that was crap and to be honest, I don't rank these that much higher.

Overall great package from 88-films but personally the films now just didn't do it for me.

A couple of under the radar movies I'd missed found on netflix - both decent independents clocking in around the 90minute mark if you are after a mid-week movie morsel
Calibre - Following a hunting accident two friends get in way over their heads whilst stranded in an isolated highland community. Tension reaches quite a peak in this one 7/10
Shimmer Lake - Small town heist goes wrong with twists played out in reverse chronolgy - Dark comedy with slacker vibes. I think this will hinge on how likeable you find the cast but this had a few laugh out loud moments for me. 7/10
Neither of these are classics/ Marquee movies but if you are digging deep and want something short and sharp you might take a look at these...
