A week ago I was running into the grocery store for some TP and whatever and stumbled across a cryovac bag of spare ribs. So yesterday on my day off I decided to do my first smoke of the year on them. It was also the first time I used horseradish and "Da' Bomb" hotsauce in the mustard I usually apply to the meat before I add my own special dry rub. I was aiming for spicy.

13lbs of Peachwood, a few handfuls of oak charcoal, and about 5 hours later I get these babies pulling clean off the bone:

MMMMMM MMMMM BEYOTCH! I didn't even use a mop, that liquid you see in the first pic is the natural juices.. I don't know why it looks like blood, but that's pretty f*cking metal! :scat:

Anyone else bust out their smoker?

ribs own!! You fellas catch that show on TNT about the BBQ competition? damn the ribs they were making looked so damn good I almost broke my diet :D

hell yes I watch the BBQ competition shows.. and I like to go to them when I can... there's hella good food at those things!!!!!

Here in KC there's a place called the culinary institute of kansas city and I took a class there on smoking meats and making rubs and sauces maybe 3 or 4 years ago.. that was all it took for me to be hooked.

I think the only commercial place I like to eat BBQ at anymore is Gates, everywhere else is good, but it's not mine!

I couldn't finish the show! it was too much and I knew my will wasn't that strong :hilarious:

Next time I go to TX I'm going to a place in Austin. I forgot the name, but they had it on Man vs Food. They looked sooooo good! I haven't forgotten about them yet. Normally I would forget something so far away by now lol

I don't think Wreck posted this but last fall we went to the Rib Festival here in Indy. It was Awsome!!! People from all over the US were there. I love ribs!

There are so many good BBQ places in Austin it's insane. John likes this one little corner spot of 620 (Smokey J's) on the way to my moms and he always stops there. I'll be in Austin for the month of June:oohyeah: so if any one wants me to stop at a place let me know.
