My feeling is that the mock-up doesn't do this steelbook justice and that the artwork with the finish it's getting will be a pleasant surprise in-hand.
Cool wraparound well-balanced artwork both inside and out and that gorgeous turquoise colour is to die for . . .
Just my personal feeling so nobody need jump down my throat . . . until it's released (lol).

It must be had to chose which disk to play when you have 10 editions of the same movie .
I use whatever disc from the edition I pick that day to use
It's about collecting a release to have in your collection
I purchase a release for the packaging and artwork and all the contents inside so I would never keep sealed for that reason.

I would never purchase any release to keep sealed to sell
I don't look at any release in terms of it's re sale value or it's perceived collectible value as that it's totally irrelevant to me as a collector.
It's value to me is what it cost me to purpose a release and is to open and enjoy all the packaging and artwork and all the content inside.

I have been purchasing Music Vinyl since 1979 and lot of purchases done from 1983 especially in terms of Films on VHS and later years on DVD/Blu-ray and a lot of Film Soundtracks on both Vinyl and CD
I have purchased a same film multiple times over the years some have exclusive content on discs as in extras or simply the artwork is different

You always get re releases of Films and Music including limited editions re packaged some been better than a previous release.

Some over time I have given away when I purchased a updated edition in terms of a Film but most I have kept in my collection

to be fair if has title on the spine fair play to disney for listening this will sell out but is not for me.

one observation though is it me or does it look like the death star has a flooded toilet and they have sent out the storm troopers to go find the blockage???
and i cant get that out of my head now either

@Scary Hair @chunk @Flash

what your thoughts on it all?

basil :D

I still can't decide it's different I guess better than the force awakens steelbook I think but that wouldn't be too difficult, will keep for now

Great to hear. At least you open them all to appreciate them. I have to be selective and generally don't have more than one edition of a movie. Good job as I wouldn't have the space lol. I bet you need a warehouse for you collection haha.

I bet you will be glad of the vinyl resurgence that's happening now.

So I take it this will be a washed out matte finish again like Force Awakens UK?

I'm wondering if the U.S. one would be the better choice here as their Force Awakens was full gloss.......?

. . . and another one coming with a picture spine and no title anywhere to be seen (except on the "flyer") - this time the collector's edition from Japan - helping to confirm (if we didn't know already) that the picture spine is present on all other territories' ROGUE ONE steelbooks.:-

I didn't see it like that .... but I do now:arghh::rofl:

Seriously though... pretty much every artwork in the thread is better than what we're getting.. I liked the place holder more.

I saw this film at the cinema.. I don't even remember the storm troopers (is that what they are on the front of the steel:emb::wacky:?) I'm still buying it but it's not the best artwork.. I like that it has a title on the spine though.. I had to pay more to get the best buy one of TFA cos the uk one didn't have a title (plus the bonus, it was gloss:cigar:) so I am happy not to pay double to import a barebones steelthis time around:happy:

yes chunk the storm troopers where at the island at the end on beaches and landing pads when all kicking off, i get the idea but hardly well done and not the main point either much more better ideas out there!
would seem someone came up with in it within 30 seconds of thinking at a meeting said job done and sent designer on there way thinking job done.
same they didn't watch the whole film and realize this a film with a story on multiple levels and many ideas and has such a vast following but i'm guessing here they may just steer this delib this way then working out we will do another realease in 6mths or a years time maybe just before the last jedi as a thought.
would be best result just in time for christmas, i for one will not be falling into that trap.

I get this film is huge and will sell out whatever on steel but i will hang on for better, just hacks me off that disney play these stupid games but for them is just $$$ and them making money back on buying the rights but time will tell if my cross hairs are set right and @Scary Hair is right the cash cow is here but for me loved this film.
i get you won't please everyone all of the time thats human nature, we are all different but i wonder if we will see a lenti version later on.
personally really hoping blufans get there hands on this and do something fantastic something double lenti fullslip as one example

just remember what happened with TFA normal steel releases and then 3d

Oh yeah.. I have a slight memory of them now:thumbs::emb: I think I was too busy taking in the great scenery and Donnie Yen:rofl:

I don't have any premium star wars steels, just the barebones so I'll stick with this, I definitely agree that they did not spent much time on the concept art for this steel. . For me this was the most beautiful looking star wars film and there is so much amazing artwork that could/should have been used for this steel.. and is now just another in a long line of underwhelming steelbook's on the market.. such a shame. But for those who are buying the premium steels we are gonna see some amazing artwork on steels, slips, lenti's, booklets etc that's going to make this release look even more ?? what's the word I'm looking for??:rofl:
this could have been awesome.

@Noodles
The steelbook art does make sense, the Death Troopers were fighting on the Scarif beaches (Krennic orders his elite troops to be deployed when he leaves the command post; we see them arriving in the battle and actually hitting some of the rebels before their taken down).

@chunk
They're called "Death Troopers". ;)

As far as I can remember they were never wading through the water like in the artwork, which is what people haven been commenting on and what I was replying to.
