Equally though, the monetary contribution is sometimes equally as important - taking server and hosting costs into consideration. There isn't really a 'fair' way to do anything, someone will always be upset.

Not 100% fair but in my mind the most fair.

To allow new users sign up, pay the ninja fee and then disappear once they have their exclusive steel to flog on ebay .... that's not even remotely fair.

But I'm sure the mods will do their best.

OMG!!, God I love Steelbooks, but this hobby is now becoming very addictive and quite expensive, I have purchased that many this year, that I am smuggling them in through the back door, with the hope that the missus doesn't find out. Brilliant news, a HDN Exclusive, can't wait, well done!!

All the while increasing the incentive to spam in future. There isn't a fair way to do anything like this, I'm sure the eventual criteria will be as fair as possible.

i gotta say i think the requirements for getting one of these should be strict but fair. not simply a case of be a ninja, or 30 posts.

As has been pointed out, if you buy the membership you instantly qualify for group buys and other areas of the forum that normally have restrictions on them (eg no. of posts)

if buying a ninja membership is all thats required what'll happen is loads will join the site buy the membership just to get one of these then sell it instantly, as lets face it this will have value, so people will take advantage anyway they can. and £16 is a small price towards a massive profit.

I think qualifying should be restricted to those who've been on the site a certain amount of time (eg 3+ months) that way you can say for certain those who get one have been contributing to the site for a while rather then just joining just to get this, just to sell on.

since this has been announced this forum has been flooded with new people asking about bypassing restrictions by purchasing a ninja membership. there are plenty of users on here who aren't "ninja's" but have contributed to the site through bringing in new members and ordering through the site i dont think these kind of people should miss out to people who've suspiciously joined up around the time this was announced.

you may say i say this simply because i'm not a 'ninja' but if i were to sign up it would be in support of the site, not simply to gain access to an exclusive steel. and thats how it should be.

Maybe 4000 is a level where a significant discount is offered? So lower runs are possible, but more expensive to order.

For me personally I wish this wasn't so limited so everyone could have a copy. And if it was a movie I didn't like then I would happily step aside but based on me ordering 95% of the new Zavvi steels that's unlikely. But so many people are going to miss out and I don't know which is the fairest way but for those talking about only 30 posts....

I would like to point out, although I only have 30 posts, I have been a member for a while now and if you look at my posts I like to contribute and not just post "Ordered" or "I hope this is embossed". And I have had no interest in group buys or trading.

As someone who's logged on all day and check it all the time and read through entire threads I get annoyed as much as anyone spamming to get to 30 or constantly talking about ebay prices and what will go up in value.

So I hope that it's really looked on individually and with logic. Not a new member signing up for a membership just because he/she can make a quick return.

Fair point, but those of us who signed up before this was known about shouldn't be punishes just because others may sign up purely for this item, we paid the money and showed loyalty to the site and yes I believe we should be allowed a bigger chance to get these than those who haven't yet done so.

Anyway, I don't want to turn this into a debate but everybody should support the site with the small amount of £16 simply because it's the right thing to do for a site which gives so much back to its community.

I dont want to seem like im bypassing anything. I post when i can. I didnt even know that there was the option to become a Ninja. If i get the steelbook then woohoo. If not then i am still suppoting the sight. Thanks to this sight i got a copy of Jack Reacher and also Hansel and Gretel. I post when i feel i have something to add. The reason i have been asking is because i have a about 50+ steelbooks and like to collect items. You should see my Metallica memorabilia
