Former HMV exclusive:

Word of caution from an UK HDN Member about HMV (thanks VRob98)

HMV now in administration said:
People should just be aware of 2 things:
1) If you receive a damaged or faulty copy from now on, you will not receive a replacement or refund
2) If they charge your card and are then unable to fulfil your order, you will not be refunded.

The way a company operates whilst under administration is quite different to how it operates normally, and certain consumer rights are suspended. If anything goes wrong you would have to apply to the administrator or claim against your credit card issuer.

I'd encourage everyone who has orders in with HMV to consider the above, as I'd hate to see anyone here lose their money in all of this.

any idea if this is to come back into stock? :(

There was a post a few pages back (#1179) from someone who was advised by an amazon rep that replacement items might be made available from a restock. I'm not sure if that's correct or not, but I'm going to speak to amazon about it today so if I find anything out I'll post here.

These slashed spines really are a joke. Id love to find out exactly where on the production line it actually happens so that the guy that works there can get an earful from all of us. Its clear it happens before they get wrapped up and packaged so it must literally happen after they come of the production line at Scanavo?

Me too Andy. I think it's probably as the boxes of cases are opened so that the discs can be put in.

My earlier derogatory comment about warehouse staff was made in the heat and frustration of the moment, but realistically what needs to happen here is a bit of education and instruction at managerial level so that this kind of damage is avoided. I used to manage a warehouse that distributed blu rays so I know how easy it is to do when staff are under pressure to get boxes unpacked. A few simple precautions are all that's needed to avoid the issue, it's just a case of getting the message down to floor level and making sure that guidelines are followed.

Received my 3 copies this morning all with deep slashes across the spine that score right into the metal. All going back, leaving me and a buddy I ordered for without a copy. :(

And all thanks to some careless ape in a warehouse that couldn't be bothered to unseal a box properly.

Thats poor. I usually order more than one steel for something I really want but good grief, you got THREE with slashed spines. Thats dumb bad luck

Just spoken to amazon cs and they are still hoping for a partial restock, if only to help replace some of those copies sent out with slashed spines. They're not sure yet though. A further update is due tomorrow.

The person I spoke to was familiar with the slashed/scored spine issue so it sounds like a fairly widespread problem.

Isn't the french one better. how come this sold out so fast?

This has gone so quickly in part because at one point it looked like the UK weren't going to get a steelbook at all as this was originally due to be an HMV exclusive. When news filtered through that the stock had gone to Amazon it caused a rush on pre-orders which is why it sold out. (IMHO)

I was thinking the same surfury, but my 2 copies priced at £12 just came and there fine.

There's a blue line on 1 just before the "S" on the spine but that's got to be down to printing.
