Former HMV exclusive:
***Several members have stated that per HMV, pre-orders have been cancelled.

Word of caution from an UK HDN Member about HMV (thanks VRob98)

HMV now in administration said:
People should just be aware of 2 things:
1) If you receive a damaged or faulty copy from now on, you will not receive a replacement or refund
2) If they charge your card and are then unable to fulfil your order, you will not be refunded.

The way a company operates whilst under administration is quite different to how it operates normally, and certain consumer rights are suspended. If anything goes wrong you would have to apply to the administrator or claim against your credit card issuer.

I'd encourage everyone who has orders in with HMV to consider the above, as I'd hate to see anyone here lose their money in all of this.

Very true, often the online store, while owned by the same company has a totally different staff, process and fulfillment partners. For everyone's sake, hopefully soon ship notifications will come for outstanding items to be released.

I've rung up and cancelled my order, felt awful and I will happy re-order it through HMV if things get resolved positively but don't fancy the risk of being stuck with a damaged steel or being left in such a state of limbo waiting. The lass on the phone said they couldn't confirm anything regarding pre-orders being delivered at this point. What a horrible position for people to be in answering questions they have no real answer for or if they'll even have their jobs much longer.

Anyone know how to cancel orders now the website is down? I have tried a couple of numbers but had no luck. The only thing I am worried about now is not getting a coopy but being charged for one.

They only charge you when your item is dispatched so I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm in exactly the same situation as you, I keep looper but I would to remove Skyfall. :ohno:

Say goodbye to cheap steels. In a way this is a good thing for us big collectors.

depends how you mean.
i love collecting steelbooks, but not for thier cash value.
not to sell on, or to be part of a clique.
i love the design, the build, the 'usually' different artwork.
i like cheap steelbooks, because that means i can buy more of them.
if they cost more, i cant buy as many.
eg if they released a steelbook of butterfly effect with embossing. clean back, inside artwork, priced it at £4.99 and printed 1,000,000 copies, it would still be one of my favourites.
alternately, the 'crown jewel' status titles like moulin rouge i do not care for. no matter how rare or valuable it is.

I think one of the tough things is that people may be getting different answers depending who picks up the phone (we've seen 'nothing is getting cancelled, pre-orders will stand' and 'everything is getting cancelled'..a big difference). Definitely a time of stress for anyone with open orders...hopefully they are all resolved in the end.

Very true, it is a waiting game at the moment, until something concrete is stated....
