Word of caution from an UK HDN Member about HMV (thanks VRob98)

People should just be aware of 2 things:
1) If you receive a damaged or faulty copy from now on, you will not receive a replacement or refund
2) If they charge your card and are then unable to fulfil your order, you will not be refunded.

The way a company operates whilst under administration is quite different to how it operates normally, and certain consumer rights are suspended. If anything goes wrong you would have to apply to the administrator or claim against your credit card issuer.

I'd encourage everyone who has orders in with HMV to consider the above, as I'd hate to see anyone here lose their money in all of this.

Wait What!. Surely the point of pre ordering an item is so you get it on, or in many cases before the release date.
Not 5 days after. Play and HMV get this thats why they post out the week before the release date,
So you have them sometimes on the Friday but usually on the Saturday before the release date.
With HMV already gone and with Play only around for a few more weeks, it's going to be a sad state of affairs if Amazon don't pull their finger out and sort this out. But I suppose the length of time amazon have been around, if the don't already do it now they probably never will.

OK Rant Over. I feel so much better now.

Try reading the page before you click confirm and it tells you expected arrival dates and you can pay more to get it near enough on release date. They want to sell you Amazon Prime and if everything gets to you early whos going to pay for it? Theres more important things to worry about than getting a blu ray a few days after a release date

Calm down, calm down !!!. Amazon tend to dispatch on the Sat / Sun before release date & it's likely that you'll receive your order on Tues, maybe Weds by the latest so there's no need to panic !.

At the end of the day, we've been spoilt by the likes of Play & HMV shipping early & getting our orders by Fri / Sat. Those days are gone & people are just going to have to stop moaning & get used to it I'm afraid.

Anyways, you should be thankful that Skyfall isn't a Zavvi exclusive as their delivery speed is even worse & you'd be receiving it well over a week from release date ... & probably damaged too.

You sure about that? My recent Steelbook pre-orders with them all have been sent on the day of release. Im sure the only way you can gurantte getting it early is if you pay for 1st class shipping.

That's no guarantee either unfortunately. I've rarely received an item on release date when sent first class by Amazon.

The only time I get something on release date is when I have several items shipping together and they use CityLink courier. Otherwise it's usually anytime from Tuesday to Friday of the release week.

Amazon used to send things out well early so you got it sooner but now they only send it to arrive on time at best. Recon they will be dispatched tomorrow and arrive on monday.

hmm, last time I pre ordered something from Amazon they dispatched it on release day. I think you'll only have it arrive on the release date if your a Prime member :/

Im sure Amazon did use to ship stuff early, but i remember reading they got a slap on the wrist once for items arriving before release day. Now they pretty much go out of their way to make sure you wont get it before release.
