People were saying the movie wasn't good so before pre-ordering I watched it(but still 1/3 to finish) and I am enjoying it. I am used to watch english speaking movies where some characters have hard coded sub because they speak a different language in the movie. It's not a bother at all.

So I did go for the release and got all 3 exclusive and oye it came up pricey. If i's have to do it again probably would leave type A out, just order, B and C. But it's done I guess will be more careful in the future.

Even 1 Exclusive each month is too much! IMO
Quality over Quantity :)

BTW : I know all Kimchi Exclusive are PURE QUANTITY ... so no comment to this :p

Type A stock is less than 100. not much left.

This will be gone by tomorrow IMO. Everyone don't worry about shipping. Its all part of the price we pay to collect. Order the plain steelbook and something else to cost average it down if you need too. I wonder how many Amelie and Pianist 1/4 slips they have left in stock? :naughty:

Anybody ordering type A here's a cautionary tale.
I've just received a steel that has been unsealed by customs. Fortunately it was a lesser priced steel. God forbid some of these Kimchis or blu-fans being opened by customs. !!!!!

On the other hand, I hope they don't go the other route and offer more and more exclusives. I quite like 1/ month release schedule. 2 isn't bad. 3 for me is too much.

I agree with you buddy.

I wouldn't mind 3 a month but I don't like the movement toward 3 different versions of each exclusive. That's overkill IMO

I don't mind having the option of 3 versions because I like having the variety to choose from. More often than not I will only buy one version, but at least the option is there for those that want to buy one of everything.

However, I don't like when they take a small print run and divide it up between 3 versions. IMO, the print run should be increased on the releases they choose to offer 3 versions of. For example; 1k for full slip, 1k for lenti and 500 for 1/4 slip and/or box set would be better.

I humbly disagree. With 3 a month, once you factor in all the different packaging, you are looking at 6-12 steels per month if you are a completist. That's way too much. 1 a month or else even the most avid collector will stop collecting their stuff.

It took me 15 minutes but I was able to get the lenticular and full slip. I ordered the full slip first because I wasn't able to get the lenticular to load, but then I got through to the lenticular so I got that one as well! Wasn't planning to order both.

Tbh, it don't really want more than 1 per month, on ocasion i could cope with 2, but i think Kimchi need to schedule in when these will go live at least a month in advance and let people know about is so we have time to plan for it. With this release Kimchi gave a really short time before the steel actually went live, so i think that should be a high priority imo ;)

You should make sure satanclaus gets number 666, that would be awesome :scat:

No way. I need 666. I have 1 steel numbered 666 and a Dark Knight Box Set with 666. I need more.

I think 2-3 per month is perfect. Look at all the junk that is being released elsewhere? Its impossible to buy every steel in every country. You have to pick and chose.

So its fine for Europe to release 20-30 per month but Kimchi cant release 3 numbered editions per month?

Couldn't agree more. It is awesome to have a few exclusive producers, Kimchi, Plain Archive, HDZeta, and Blufans (not collecting these .... yet:)), to focus my OCD completist tendencies on and pick up a few high quality releases every month.

While I often think back to the old days of acquired all world-wide releases fondly, there are just way to many cookie cutter releases coming out now days.

No offense intended to anyone at all as I truly believe to each their own

Lets be honest though as I eluded earlier. Each release is fragmented into 3 different packages making it 9 numbered editions in reality and therein lies the main problem. Throw in the regular KR editions, then that number rises to 12+

I totally get what you are saying with your statement, however to me, that number of releases gives nothing but choice and something for everyone regardless of their collecting style.

Yes, last night's bill for one of each of the exclusives plus shipping was a bit tough but I know I will get that much enjoyment out of them. I still very regularly fawn over the exclusives I currently have as I am very proud to have them.

I'm very happy I got the full slip. But I would still like to know if this has been confirmed as the final artwork. Also what is the finish on the steel going to be? ;)

As I open all my slip boxes......:D

Full slip artwork will be approved, just takes time to get approval from director,

As you can see, it's matte not glossy.

So do we know for sure how subs will be handled on this? Will the Eng subs be just for the non-English parts or for the whole film? I personally wouldn't want subs on for the whole film just so I can understand the non-English parts when they come.

I do not know how it works, but sooner or later publisher announce detail disc specification.

like previous all CJ entertainment title, they always carry English title on their exclusive digipak serires,

Its not my intention to derail the thread. The old adage that "too many cooks spoil the broth"...for me applies if they decide to do more exclusives per month. I think in general choice is great. That said though, too much choice is not good and only serves to confuse IMO

I guess for me a lot of the opinion I have is coming from being a "back in the day" collector where pretty much every release had the blue banner and a printed back. Anything released without those was EEK!

Now, the choices are plentiful and the releases, the good ones anyway, are more than just a steelbook.

Thanks for the discussion and now back to the regularly scheduled thread :D

I suspect there will be a number of cancellations of the type A when it is near release. Don't see how the Art Book could justify a $20 premium unless it is high quality gloss print. So I doubt people are paying to get the Art Book.

Think people are hoping to do a trade with it but it gonna be tough cuz of the high shipping cost.

How differently numbered will the;

Type A Kimchi EXCLUSIVE limited Edition 666

compared to the

[Blu-Ray]Snowpiercer Numbering Digipack Premium LE (Non Exclusive)

will be ?

I assume the ''Type A will have a numbering card xxx/666'' but for the Digipack Numbered how will it be numbered differently ?
