It not the same Steel guys (see post #16)...The artwork might be the same but the quality and feel isn't.

I belong to the camp, release once and never again...That's what makes stuff collectable in my book.

I'll be getting this UK re-release, maybe the Play one will take a value hit but my one was never for sale anyways.

We,'ll have to see what the final product is like...but the original release does have a certain appeal about it so still want to own a copy.

exactly what jdslater just said , If this is all you Collect or Acquire for is Personal Gain , or whine about Value and or Loss of Value , then go and invest in some of your coin in an ISA (High Interest account) instead , as you are plainly in the wrong game Sun Shine

Some expert PR management by Wreck that Zavvi should be eternally grateful for. The same time this is announced, Wreck puts the sweetener in that Who Framed Roger Rabbit has only 3,000 copies. My own personal anger with Zavvi was most definately dampened by that news. Perfectly timed.

Your forgetting the most important part. It devalues all the rare ones we collected over the years to the point that selling off the collection would make a person never collect steelbooks again.

If it's all about the monetary value of the steel, I'd suggest these people shouldn't be collecting anyway. I see this as killing two birds with one stone.

I had no idea that the original was worth so much. I'm pretty new to steelbook collecting. I only buy steelbooks of movies I like and ordered this not because it is a "grail" but because I liked the movie and I wasn't collecting steels when this came out.

It's so great that these studios employ whole teams of budding, young enthusiastic people in their Creative Departments to bring fresh and new premium products to the market. Oh wait, cheap and cheerful is tried and tested so let's just do that instead and go down the pub early!!

My hope is that this isn't a new trend for Paramount (or other studios) to just get lazy. I'm pretty sure there is a wealth of awesome artwork available for this title and it seems such a waste to print a run with the same cover.

I'm sure Wreck will use his Zavvi contacts to keep them pushing the limits and trying new stuff like he did with Play. It's the real unique releases that keep me interested in this hobby and imo it'd be a shame to lose them.

So anyway....£15 quid eh? I'll take 5 please!

The only people I believe who shouldn't mind re-releases are rich people and here is why. I believe most people on this forum are true collectors and do not collect to resell their entire collection down the line.

But unfortunately, their are abrupt circumstances in life that doesn't go exactly the way you planned and you may need some extra cash to make ends meet. For example you could lose your job (HMV, play).

Also, are people not aware that the whole point in buying a steelbook in the first place was for the fact that it is a "limited collectors item"?

Lets hope they don't do a reprint of ironman 1&2 that would be a disaster

At least I have the original and it didn't arrive bent like a banana or scratched like half of zavvi's are going to be

Re-prints do not mean you have to give back the original. If you have the 1st print, then you get to keep it. If the value of the 1st print goes down, you won't care. It's not like you are going to scalp it on eBay anyway, eh?
