There are two different order descriptions for each Steelboook:

1. Star Trek XI - Zavvi Exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook [Blu-ray]
2. Star Trek XI - Exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook [Blu-ray]

No 1 (The 'Zavvi Exclusive') is the black one.

And this is not the steelbook but just giving you idea on how it would look with the front and back. ie. giving the collector the choice of which side they want as front so you can switch the plates.

Just cancelled this one. The more I thought about it the more I realised I didn't need 2 copies of anything. If it hangs around for a while an drops in price I may pick it up I. The future.

Should not be any difference, imo. Artwork is same. Number of disks is also.
I also had both on pre-order. But Cancelled both and took a risk with amazon JP's white one. Now I seriously hope at least that comes with good slip - bottom slip.

The steelbook is exactly the same (but fsk 12 removable sticker is on the german one..) and the german one is cheaper

Am I the only one who doesn't understand what's so good about the white one? I guess it's the same cover as the rare Future Shop edition but still, I feel that this black version is so much better. You have the stunning main characters on the front and a great inside art. The white one looks really boring in my opinion.

Yep, more delays. At least they keep letting us know they are *kind of* on top of it. I think this design is better than the white one. Hopefully the new film has a similar steelbook design to make my collection complete!

Hi members, after chatting with Zavvi about the delay, here's the information we've been given.

-New release date will be June 3rd, 2013.
-The steelbook packaging that you have come to expect from Zavvi also had a delay and rather sending these out in bubble mailers or other packages, they are awaiting a new delivery of these boxes. Some delay in the manufacturing process occurred apparently.

Hope that helps, updating the OP with the new release date, at least Zavvi understands how upsetting it would be for collectors to get these steels in not-as-safe packaging rather than just sending them out.
