Old Updates & infos:
NEW UPDATE 8/13/2013:
We have a short update on the finish details for our 2 exclusive Star Trek Into Darkness steelbooks. Both the steelbook in the Villain Edition and the Hero Edition steelbook will have debossed title treatments and be matte finishes. We had some fantastic ideas for the ***8220;special packaging***8221; we promised for the Hero Edition, but unfortunately the time constraints of turning this around in just over a month before the release date meant that none of them were possible. The Entertainment Store exclusive sticker that has been on our previous releases will be on these releases too, and we can only apologise for being able to make the Hero Edition special rather than extra special.

All is not lost though ***8211; some of the special packaging we had planned for Star Trek Into Darkness will be present on our next release, which we will be announcing exclusively via HDN on Tuesday 20th August. You won***8217;t be disappointed, I promise!

PREVIOUS UPDATE:
A stunning 2D and 3D blu-ray plus digital copy steelbook. Limited to 4,000 copies and available exclusively from The Entertainment Store. Finish, embossing, release date and pricing TBC, but we have really special plans for the packaging.

Original infos:From our friends at Entertainment Store in the UK:
The Entertainment Store Boldly goes where other E-tailers cannot

The fastest growing Entertainment E-tailer on the Marketplace, The Entertainment Store, continues its strong exclusive packaging offering in September 2013 with the introduction of 2 2D and 3D Blu Ray Steelbooks for Star Trek: Into Darkness Home Entertainment release.

The limited edition Steelbooks are limited to 4,000 copies each, and will be available to Pre-order from The Entertainment Store on Play.com from midday Friday July 19th 2013.

Since its arrival in March 2013 The Entertainment Store has been working closely with Paramount Home Entertainment and have already teamed up to bring us exclusive Blu Ray SKUs such as GI Joe and Hansel and Gretel but this latest batch of releases look to be the most interesting yet. The E-tailer distributes product directly from the Studio warehouses so the product is guaranteed as authentic and of the highest quality.

What do you guys think will be 'special' about this version?

I'm hoping for embossing, border and gloss but that's not too special as we have seen it before (Argo).

I have it on pre order but not sure if I can justify spending £25 on a film I haven't seen yet and I'll only buy this version if it truly is something unique (special) otherwise ill have to go with the amazon one

Wondering the same thing!
Think we can sure think of it having that ES exclusive Sticker, but that is not that great/speacial at the end...
Embossing/debossing, think others (with the exact same artwork in different countries) would then have that also?

Hope we will get some more Infos or updated Pictures BEFORE they start shipping!!!

Hi all, an update from the team at ES Store:

Thanks DB :scat:

...debossed title treatments and be matte finishes

I would've preferred them to just dely this incredible release and give it the cool packaging. Whatever the film they announce on the 20th It wont be as cool in my opinion unless its man of steel which for the love of christ, lets hope it is. :ohno:

Thinking about cancelling this now and getting the amazon edition. Unless they drop the price (which I think they should) I probably will. Save me some more money for the August 20th announcement

Feel a bit cheated now if I'm honest. Why promise something if you can't deliver it? It's fine saying sorry but a lot of peopke have preordered it now.

And I was fully expecting a Jack Reacher type full gloss finish for that price. Debossed and matt sounds like an old German budget title!

Gutted :(

Man of Steel please!!! :ohno:

Sometimes the timing just doesn't work out from the time of planning to release. It's unfortunate, but a reality. The final choices may have nothing to do with not 'wanting' to do certain things with the release, or cost, but rather what is possible between all parties involved. I personally am grateful for receiving some advance notice. But I like this art, and will be remaining in the group buy, because it's still a unique release to me.

Fortunately you can cancel this...For those of us outside the UK, we had to join the GB and are stuck in it....:(

The fact that the details are changed the group buy hoist will have to give you a option to leave or stay.

Its easy for the group buy hoists just to cancel unwanted copies

It's a shame they couldn't get the special finish sorted for this release but I'm quite intrigued to know what it's going to be and what the next release will be too

Debossed title is still a special finish and I guess the Amazon version will be matte too, so for me this better artwork option is the one that stands out. But I've still got them all on order anyway :D

Like DB says, I'm glad they mentioned this before release and I personally feel that element of honesty eliminates any foul play on the part of ES to bag extra orders.

I sent an email to ES politley asking if they intednd to reduce the price to reflect the reduced qualitywe're expecting from this release. it at least lets them know we're at least not happy with having to pay the same amount for a less special version.

here's a copy of what i'm sent if you're curious.

I ordered the star trek into darkness hero edition steelbook when it became available.

I was saddened to learn this morning that the extra special packaging you had planned for the release could no longer be done due to time issues. I felt the extra special packaging you had planned made the price of £24.99 seem reasonable despite the large print run so i ordered a copy.

Now the special packaging you had planned is no longer happening I feel the price tag is no longer justifiable. When you consider your current price is a £7 mark up on the standard 3d edition. Where as amzon are selling a steelbook edition for only £2 more then the standard version.

I dont understand why you're charging the same for a less special steelbook than you where charging for the extra special packaging.I must admit i find this unfair and am now reconsidering my order. So I'd like to know if you plan to reduce the price due to the fact the extra special packaging will no longer be included.
