For those that received their 1st shipment scratched because the pin was just taped to the front, here is an example of how a replacement was sent.

Got mine yesterday and, yes, it too has the small dent from the badge's pin. I've got zero damage to the paint though.

I'm prepared to let it go as the dent isn't very obvious. Unless Amazon contact me about a replacement (has happened in the past with problem products), I'll probably keep it as is. Saves me returning it to Germany.

Well it is the same when I order something from the USA, the address always reads GERMANY instead of DEUTSCHLAND, so each seller uses the counrty names in their own language, I guess. And indeed, Kanada is the german word for Canada. It should arrive soon though.

one of mine has a blatant paint chip /dent whereas the other is slightly damaged, just just about notice the dent.

Can't be arsed with this bother so just going to send them both back. Why couldn't they put the badge things flat side down?! dicks.

Well, this copy is going back, but if they have these pins on the front of all of their copies, I can't see how a replacement is going to fare any better.

You should tell them you are shipping it back without the pin, and for them to send a replacement without a pin.

Is that printing directly on the back or a J-card? If the latter, what does it look like under the J-card?

Curious - how is the pin attached to the steelbook? It may not be an option to ship it back without the pin, because if it was packed at the factory like that, and not Amazon, most likely the majority of them are damaged in some way - sounds like someone at the factory made a bad call on how to ship the pin with the steelbook . Unfortunately, i had to cancel my order. Hopefully I'll pick one up when they fix the problem. Or I just may do without steelbooks on this series :(

Also received damaged copy due to the pin. I informed Amazon.de and rather than sending it back they told me to give it to a friend or library and they have now issued me with a full refund!

Wow reading that made me wish i'd ordered this :hilarious: the fact they've done that pretty much says to me they cocked up and they know it. Be interesting to see what happens next.

Curious to know if every copy of the steel had the pin attached, like those of early reports. That means there could be 4000+ damaged copies, that are useless and unsellable. Meaning some moron could've cost the company alot of money. Very unlikely i know, but I am very interested to see how all this develops.

I haven't received any reply from amazon.de but I can imagine they are flooded with complaints and returns emails.

Here's a little news flash I found on The Digital Bits.
UPDATE - 7/25/12 - 12:30 PM PDT)

Okay, just a quick update re: CBS's Star Trek: The Next Generation - Season One Blu-ray set. There is a confirmed audio issue that affects 7 episodes in the set - Encounter at Farpoint, Hide and Q, The Big Goodbye, Datalore, 11001001 and Too Short a Season. The impact is that in the DTS 7.1 mixes for these episodes, character dialogue that should normally be in the center channel is also mixed into the front left and right channels. The other episodes are unaffected. However, there's a secondary audio issue being reported as well in which the PCM audio for some of the extra features on Disc One and Disc Six plays out of sync on at least some models of Blu-ray player. CBS has begun investigating both issues.

I think they rushed this out too quickly. The secondary issue may be why they pulled it from the site as I thought that the first issue was resolved already. In any case if you find issues with this here is the European contact which will most likely have to be contacted for this German release.
We now also have contact information for Europe/UK sets :

I understood that this was the reason for the delay of the release of this steel they were changing out the discs to the replacement ones that you can get online.

When I opened up mine from Amazon.de there was 2 layers of cling-film. I got a feeling ALL their stock for this release will have damaged cases (maybe up til now when they realised what tits they have been). Basically I don't think its a case of being damaged via shipping but by the cling-film pressing the pin into the case from the factory. I've managed to gently push the dent outwards from the inside of the case using the back of a spoon, there is a dot of paint missing but I can live with that. Not sure if I should be feeling guilty now for keeping the case PLUS getting a refund - feels a little bit like stealing doesn't it?EEK!

Did you get what you expected and paid for? If not then it's not stealing by getting a refund and not having to return the steelbook. They can't get you a replacement because apparently they are all like this. :(

We don't know for sure but Amazon.de could look at all the cock-ups with this release and decide not to bother with steelbooks for seasons 2-7 and could just release the standard amaray version - that would suck though!

That would indeed suck, despite all these problems I still want the rest of the seasons steelbooks

That would definitely rain on my parade but I think they're obligated to carry the others as they make a complete set. I think season 2 is slated for December or January so we'll see.

Did you remove the plastic from inside the steelbook to do this? Or just use the spoon on the plastic itself?

Yeah it's pretty much the same as removing the case and disc-hub as we do with a regular steelbooks, just slide a plastic card or knife down the side. I did this also with Up and Monsters Inc fat steels plus LOTR. My side spine pic is too far to one edge so leaving the other edge with about 5mm of just silver metal showing so I think I'm gonna do my own spines and attach them.

I am worried about this set, as I got 2 in hand right now

One I have left unopened, the one I did remove the cling film has a tiny dent with the paint still intact where they put the pin, the dent is so small that its not noticeable until you see it an angle with light overhead.

Would like to know what we can do to get the faulty soundtracked discs swapped out or whether just ask for a refund on both of them :wtf:
