@smcbeath,
I did exactly that a week ago (well, 10 days)...I firstly tried "live chat"..no use there, live chat (on Amazon.de) is only available in German.
Tried calling, but after 3 attempts, I only ever got German speaking CS agents...
I then went via Amazon UK, and eventually (after much persuasion by me) got put through to a UK supervisor, who said he would do his best to contact Amazon.de and ask for a fluent English speaking CS agent to call me...
Next day, a call from a 0049 telephone number on my phone, answered it, and it was a pretty good English speaking Amazon.de guy...
To cut a long story short, over the next 3 days, I had 3 conversations on the phone, and a few emails, and the outcome was, that although Amazon.de advertised the item as an exclusive, they had no control over the shipping of the exclusive Pin Box, as it was being supplied by a 3rd party, despite it being an Amazon exclusive.
I argued that their advertising was then very misleading, and that Amazon should, at the very least, take some responsibility for the supplier delivering ALL of the advertised items that were part of the Amazon exclusive deal.
The guy was quite helpful, and reasonably understanding, and did concede (to a degree) that Amazon did have an element of responsibility, due to it being advertised on their site (and still is), but he said, after quite a long discussion with his supervisor, that Amazon were unable to contact the suppliers of the Pin Box, as they (Amazon) only really had the same information as me (the customer)...i.e what was printed on the poster...in other words, no contact information for the company (Paramount/StarTrek.de) supplying the Pin Box...
What he did do though, as a gesture of ownership of Amazon's side of the problem, was to refund me the price of the last Steelbook purchase I made, so a couple of days later I got a 75 Euro refund on my credit card, and that was as far as I as able to get, going down the Amazon.de route...
I did consider taking it a step further, but partly because of the language barrier, and partly because I had accepted the 75 Euro refund, I felt that the Amazon route was exhausted, and that I could only hope now that at some point (whenever that might be), the Pin Box might just suddenly appear!
