Kudos to the designers in going for a black/silver / black/white colour scheme for this steelbook - a colour scheme that perfectly complements all U.K. steelbook editions of the film that re-started the franchise - STAR TREK XI - all U.K. steelbook editions of which are in those very same colours.

Exactly- it feels like a blatant recycling. Especially in having put the names of all three films explicitly on the cover and spine of the steelbook itself- it feels pretty obvious that this was something that wasn't really done with consideration for the audience that would want to have a collection of these films... Like- for example- the Mission Impossible Zavvi Steelbook was something that got it right. It included an extra disc slot for the inevitable 6th film, and it merely stated that it was a "Collection" of films.

Question I have is: Is this the exact same package as The Compenium PLUS Beyond....Or are they just reusing the art?

It's Just the Artwork
UK steelbook and German Steelbook has nothing to do with content from USA Star Trek: The Compendium release

Star Trek: The Compendium was USA only release did not get a release in the UK
That release was 4 Discs
Star Trek (2 Discs)/ Star Trek Into Darkness - IMAX Edition (2 Discs) did not include 3D disc

Zavvi release is 5 Discs
Star Trek 2D (1 Disc)
Star Trek: Into Darkness 2D+3D (2 Discs)
Star Trek Beyond 2D+3D (2 Discs)

Thanks. The US Compendium edition was the one that finally compiled all of the extras that were (unwisely) broken up and distributed across different editions from different retailers.
And I think it is the only edition of the second film that changes aspect ratios between 2.35 and Imax footage. (The other editions just keep a 2.35 all the way through).

On one hand- at least it isn't one of those hideous "Jumbo Steelbook" release like the US Release of the Mission Impossible Collection- but they couldn't have something more tasteful than "Star Trek: Three Movie Collection"? Why not just "The Star Trek Collection"?

I'm not wondering if the Blufans release of this film will have different artwork, or whether they will just include a slipcover...

I see these trilogy releases when there be another movie down the line are pointless. So you going to have a trilogy steelbook then a singular to add on the end for the 4th and 5th movie etc? Well I guess this is more marketed for those that don't own any steelbook version of the movie.

Dispatched...
Just arrived - at 6:15pm (the post gets earlier and earlier each day! lol).

Matt black finish with spot-gloss on the Enterprise. "Star Trek" lettering on the front is debossed.

I know this one has taken a lot of stick, but I actually quite like it...
