Star Wars Blu ray movies in Steelbook?

While we would be definitely interested in steelbooks for this, I think the only way they feasibly could do it would be to do 1 for each.

I doubt that would happen, as they'll want to sell all 6 as a set (and they don't make a steelbook that will hold 6 discs).

So, my guess would be no. :(

I think the bigger issue is they have such a tight grip on what is and isnt allowed for a franchise like this ... If they are dead set on some other type of limited packaging then that's it. I think one country might be able to get it done though, maybe.

If it was to choose between a jumbo SteelBook or an Amaray release I would definitely go for the jumbo SteelBook.

We should be happy were even getting them on Blu-Ray, although Steels would be nice.

Amen.

I think that's a tough one, I think I read somewhere that George Lucas hold merchandising rights and everything Star Wars has to be approved by him. So Fox only holds distribution. Might be a bit tough to get this on Steelbook, but stranger things have happened lol

Crossing my fingers!

Dear george lucas,
See that a steelbook release means more money for you, that means fatter wallet, that alone should be enough. Thanks

Love always and stay greedy,

HopeFully he'll get the message....

I believe this will be the biggest question of this year, Star Wars in SteelBook if so hope will became the ultra holy grail of Steels

Id be in for a set. They would look good next to my Force Unleashed 1 and 2 steels. Although I can see them doing something other than steels like the Alien Anthology. Maybe 2 editions where a set would come in the Millennium Falcon and another would come in the Death Star.. in case you like to choose sides =)

When I asked Brana about a possibility of Alien Steelbooks, he mentioned that Fox is not into those "Special Editions" in North America, generally, and if they were to do anything special, they'd try to stick with one type of Special Ed (as they did with "The Egg" for that release). I am sure there will be "something" special for Star Wars, unless they reserve that for whatever the next edition is (if the 1st is cut, or not "complete" in some way). Either way, I'd be in for Steelbooks for this release, because I generally love 80's movies, their art, etc, and the sheer history of the films alone would persuade me. For the die hard fans out there, I hope Fox comes through with true, restored transfers and something cool to add to SW collections around the world!

+1 Love 'em or hate 'em...the Star Wars movies are significant in film history for many reasons. I would buy the steelbooks just to have them.

Lord of the Rings Steelbook holds 6 discs

It does, but how many of those are blus? If you think about it - and the likelihood that studios do digital copies or dvds

6 movies
6 special feature discs
6 dvd / digital copies

No way you can fit 18 discs in a jumbo - that's what I'm trying to get at - if I made my point clear enough...

Your correct. But remember that the LOTR jumbo had the digital copies in a separate amaray. Still would be 12 discs so no way. Personally unless they were individual steels I would rather have some sweet set like the Nite Owl ship with lights and such. or all the discs in Boba Fetts helmet !! But not like the Target masks im talking a full on helmet replica like Halo 3 Legendary edition. :scat:

True, it turned into all kinds of different flavors. In the US we got an empty one, in Canada it all came packaged together.

In France and Germany they got different steelbooks for each one as a set.

So I guess it depends on the retailer in each country, but either way - the more discs they put in there, the more $$$ Lucas can make. :naughty:
