@Wreck I thank you for your post. I read it with great interest. Because it shows fairness and that you have sympathy for both sides of the conflict.

And if it's like Aniv said, everyone can do what they want with their copy, then this should apply to all members here (also those joining FAC GBs), don't you think?

Not sure exactly what you mean on FAC. My own personal opinion is I never care what people do with the products they buy. So if you mean someone joining a GB just to resell, that doesnt bother me as its up the GB host whether he wants to sell to them or not. If I give someone something or sell someone something I dont care what you do with it afterwards. I sold it or gave it to you ... thats up to you. That's my own personal thoughts and others may differ. If you mean how FAC has done some limited GBs privately then do realize their stance is their stance, but also they do tell me that they do plan to make the GB public at some point too. I cant be involved to track their lists and figure out who is reselling etc. They seem to care that people who want to keep their collections moving forward and only want one copy get one. That is a TON of work, and more power to them for trying to be noble. However its always practically a broken system with limited items. You can't please everyone. Hence why it all falls back on what level of sanity does the GB hosts want to deal with. A GB Host can't police it all ... and to that same affect HDN can't police it all. We try to make decisions and or sway Hosts etc to do the overall best thing... but when the public will have different opinions you will always never please 100% of the people. You win some you lose some.

At the end of the day tho I do truly care about everyone's experience here. I want everyone to just have fun. And I've seen where some members dont have fun in one area and then they go to another sub-forum or area and have a blast. Some sections are a bit more hardcore than others. And yes I'm rambling...

So wish I got in for the Lenti now :banghead: Looks fantastic. Just looked in the bay and some cheeky sod is trying to sell it for £300
Oh well, will be happy with my Fullslip when it comes.

Hi mate, can you clarify what you meant by FA going Public on GBs please?

They tend to do public group buys here for every release.

@metalpaul1000 ; yeah I bought it and still have yet to watch it on blu-ray. Awesome in the theaters and i will always remember the experience with the pumped up crowd, but I can def see what you mean in regards to cheap thrills going forward. however perhaps like original trilogy and loving and rewatching that a lot when young .... it just means I'm getting old and the next batch while still fun for adults is more easily rewatchable for the kiddos.

Here's my opinion if anyone cares...

Group Buys take a lot of time and work. GB Hosts make money. Some make a little, some make a lot. Some do free ones from time to time and make nothing. (I know cause of I've done it plenty of times) But no one does free ones forever as its just too much work to continually sustain without burnout. Let's not forget about tax implications for those of us who play by all the rules. You cannot do everything for free forever.

A GB Host works with the retailer to obtain copies. If anyone feels a GB Host is doing the Company a disservice then they should complain to that Company. Not saying you cant speak your mind here as that's what a forum is for as well. Just saying that moaning on HDN many times is not enough to change something as opposed to complaining to the retailer.

The sad fact is you will find out that many retailers (the smaller ones) may not care as much. I'm not finger pointing at any one retailer, but I've had first hand information in this segment for a long time now. So I know exactly what I'm talking about even if I'm not coming right out and saying it. If you want juicy geek speak then you can show up at this year's Mondo Con and buy me a beer. :p

Most people who join Group Buys realize there is some sort of fee on top. Most are fine with that for the simple peace of mind knowing they have their copies secured.

In a perfect world there would be no group buys and all retailers would ship world wide like Zavvi. That's what I would like. But ... that will never happen.

In regards to Aniv, if he is truly doing something wrong then that judgment would come from Nova. If Nova knows and doesn't like it then action will be taken. But if Aniv is operating within the rules of his relationship with Nova then thats what it is. You like it or dont, and if you don't then just like any buying decision you make in life you either choose to support it or not.

I've always known there was gonna come days like this in regards to Aniv. I know of many resellers who double as Group Buy Hosts. People from other sites, here, etc. Most of them resell "in the shadows" so the majority of folks never know. Aniv has been pretty transparent and often times blunt. Some will respect him for being transparent and others will want to raise up their pitch forks. And since his competitors obviously don't like what is going on there will always be agendas. There will be fans, there will be haters ... but that comes with that territory.

I will always have the stance that I want the community of HDN to always have the ability to obtain the items they want here on HDN. Options and choices that then the members choose. If a person decides to try and use HDN and the fine members of this community then at that point you can surely guess that they will no longer have my resources and support.

In closing please everyone never post out people's personal information. It's just wrong especially in the time we are living in. If you feel like you have discovered something that is wrong then you are free to bring it up to myself or staff who may have further knowledge to piece things together and see if any action needs to be taken. If you think its something in regards to retailers then perhaps its best to talk to the retailer.

Hi Wreck :)

in no way shape or form could or would I ever want to host a GB myself :stop: . Surely the problem here has arisen from the cut in copys for GB's from Nova no one can dispute that :sorry: .

The fact that those copys sold on ebay IF they had been allocated to HDN the fees then could have been gained off the GB also more members could have obtained what they needed :notworthy:.

Others selling in the shadows as you put it , Are shunned and villified :( . Almost hunted :( :(. Yet when it suits it's alright and not a problem :dunno: .

The whole FAC situation the limited numbers and selective GB's that is sucking the fun out of those :banghead: . That's down to FA I know :banghead: . Putting a gun twisting your arm unless you buy this one you will not get others that you may want that follow :vomit: .

Fact is we all have a choice , order direct , join a GB , Fleaday it at a later date  .

I think I've said enough in this thread about no way of pleasing all. If you are "in the shadows" then how are you shunned and vilified ? You are in the shadows right? People who are shunned or vilified have to be in the open that or there is intel of which some may not know. Sounds like you are beating around the bush and have more to say.

How many people have missed out on copies? I honestly don't keep up with tallies of every GB that goes on here. In fact I'm just like you all where I go in and request. Any rough numbers? 10, 20, 30?

The rules of FAC isn't decided by Karel, or the mods here. It's decided by Jan who I believe owns FilmArena ( or is the manager there ).

He makes up the strict policies. And if you thought limiting purchases to 2 was bad ... now it's invite only via going on a waiting list.

Quite frankly their releases were nothing spectacular in the first place and I think the rules are crazy. They are being noble to retain popularity. Occasionally they put out a release that is really nice but usually they can't beat the Asian releases. I only love supporting them because they are local, based in Europe and i'm from the UK.

I will get hate for this but I have bought additional copies WITHIN THE LIMITS I HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO PURCHASE SET BY THE GB HOST / WEBSTORE and I have always traded or sold them for a small profit if the opportunity was there. It helps fund my growing collection and psychologically keeps this expensive habit affordable.

If i'm branded a scalper for that ... then good. I am one and quite frankly, very proud. And there is no point sitting on a high horse ... I can guarantee about 50% of the forum do the same and they are now slowly being discovered. Big deal. Have a laugh about it ... but in reality there isn't any shame in it. What I buy is mine and I can use it as toilet paper if I wish.

@Wreck i've noticed you are always trying to be fair to everybody. Have to applaud you for that!

What Aniv did was morally wrong as he's a well respected GB host. And as a participant of his GB's you can decide if you want to continue joining his GB's or not. But ultimately if Novamedia are not fussed with him taking advantage of his position, then nor should we be making fun of the situation, or memes or whatever happened in the posts earlier. He's running a business.

That my friend was the name of the game for me back in 2009/10. Once you are in a hobby long enough you help support if it you make smart buying decisions. Not everyone is a Doctor, Engineer, etc. Some have to put in the extra work to keep up with what they want. I no longer have as much time to do any of that, but I did it very often especially during the 12 weeks of Disney haha. That bout killed me back in those early days.

in the end it's just a steelbook, which you dont need to survive like water and food. the whole situtation is ridiculous!

It's disgusting how Ricardo had to provide intimate details about his actual family life to justify why he is selling something that is strictly for collectors. He degraded himself when he didn't have too. He should of just shrugged his shoulders, apologised, taken the ban on the chin and left it at that ... he mentioned people are sending him nasty messages/threats on ebay which he has now reported or something ? I mean wtf ??? is that a joke. Threats over selling a steelbook. Too many keyboard warriors here.

I was referring to yesterday the TLS thread , a member went about something the wrong way admitedly . Then had to stand his ground after being I belive the prase is called out ? .

A mheme yesterday was uncalled for and was later delited .saying PUT HIM DOWN ! .THAT is what rattled my cage Wreck . One member dose it to sort out his young family he is a VILLIAN . GB Host dose it HERO . Double standards amongst people here as they Want Need thire GB copys sad however FACT .

I Don't beat about the bush at all Sir I say it how I see it Wrong OR Right .

Could Not Have Said It Better, I am sure you speak for 99.9 % of us on HDN and Beyond Maybe Even a Galaxy Not Far Away

All this constant posts in Nova threads about GB and resellers can be avoided and solved if Nova just sell all units only from their Website Shop and have limits of 1 copy of each version per customer when it's a very high demand release

They ship worldwide they don't need to use any outside sources to sell any Marvel or Disney releases

I knew for this Steelbook release it was going to get this when I saw how it was been managed in terms of the amount stock allocated to outside sources not just to HDN but the others as well
Star Wars in terms of demand and sales is lot more popular than Marvel and other film studio releases
Star Wars the force awakens has broken all previous Blu-ray records of sales to date

Steelbooks are now very popular and getting releases with lot of films
Previously is was just a few films that got a steelbook release and they were collectors items while the rest all just purchased a standard Blu-ray or a DVD version

Steelbooks have become very popular and through websites like HDN and Social Media attention is drawn to customers about these releases
High Street Retail Shops business has been mostly replaced by on-line retail business and more customers are using on-line because of this

Film studios and distributors now see steelbooks as good way to sell new release blu-ray and back catalogue films
I have introduced a number of new collectors to steelbooks in the past year and they now are purchasing lots of steelbooks

Most customers who purchase a steelbook or a standard Blu-ray keep it in their collection some will give away or at a later time sell
I myself keep 99% that I purchase in my collection and have either given away free or sold at cost the very small amount I did give away or sell and never once have I sold on ebay and never will

Steelbooks are big business for film studios and is why you see all these re releases
Back in 2009/2010/2011 it was collectors market for a small amount of releases

Its now mainstream business steelbooks
Some retailers cancel bulk orders from customers if not pre authorized with a high demand release so more customers can get that release
Zavvi do this if you if your not aware about it on some releases

Back to the steelbook which I already have as in the same Zavvi Steelbook
I myself missed out on getting Nova Full Slip A
I was not interested in getting the lenti version

You have the 3D version to get a release and that will also get a steelbook release in various countries and the battle to secure a copy will begin again when the exclusive WEA version that will get released

I for one am normally a collector that opens all of my steelbooks I purchase. As I am also a Star Wars collector and typically do not open anything from that, I am torn as to what I will do with my 1 click. I definitely agree that the WWA steel is crap compared to the US version, but my US version is being housed by the wonderful slip I got from @zesty. I would rather have that than a pice of crap WWA steel in something that was actually made by a fellow collector with only the Ninja in mind.
