Will hold on to it for now, but will most likely do the same eventually.

Maybe a 3D Steelbook will surface somewhere
Moved the movie discussions to:
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens - In theaters December 18, 2015

Please keep this thread for the SteelBook release only.
There is limited information on the aforementioned steelbook at present, other than a placeholder artwork and a possible lack of a "3d" disc. Hopefully it will look nice, and include a "3d" version on another disc. Lack of information leads to speculation, its early days with this release, but expressing some concerns over content is due to a desire for all concerned ( zavvi, Disney etc ) to produce something special, that is worthy of collecting. Hopefully anyone from the industry will see the passion with steelbook collecting and give us what we want ! Beautiful artwork, 3d version, maybe even a lovely lenticular ! Unless this is openly expressed, they will never know ! An informed decision is the right decision. Merry christmas everyone !

The Zbox was a publicized cross promo that was available with the Steelbook-it's fine to mention as long as the whole thread doesn't go off the rails completely. We've always asked that folks use the Movie & TV forum for general movie talk. Thanks guys.

Surely you can discuss the film that is going to be in the steelbook? so many people have been very critical of the film and kinda advising people not to order this and anyone who is positive seems to get theirs posts moved(like mine)

Anyway back to the steelbook. I hope it has a lenticular on the front, I am very fond of zavvi's magnets and would love to see it on there bright and bold to match the film. I don't mind if it doesn't have 3d I saw the film 2d and it was marvellous.

I would like the steelbook to have some deleted scenes, i love a gag reel and some nice interviews included would be good.

Just been to see this in "IMAX 3D", film was "ok" ! 3d was not up to expectations apart from one scene; a shot of a destroyer which was poking out of the screen ( 3d special effect ). This steelbook should sit well with the other "6" ! Merry Christmas Ninja's ! Have a good one, here's to next year and steelbook's.

Once again the negative remarks are still here regarding the film but positives moved? Funny that

Liking bright and bold magnets and being very fond of zavvi's magnets..? :squint::cautious:

I am entitled to like the Zavvi lenticulars if I want don't really care what others think and I also can want this one if they do use a lenticular on the steelbook to be bright.

Loved the film - even though it had a few small faults - so can't wait for the steel book. Hope they massively change the artwork though - it doesn't match the other ones at all...

I hope they don't.

While an image of the central character is all well and good, I much prefer poster art on a steelbook (used far too infrequently these days). I accept it then wont match, but with the first 6 being Fox and this being Disney, it's not like the spine will match either no matter what the front looks like.

As nice as the previous Star Wars steelbooks (and Harry Potter set) look, imagine how much nicer they could have been with the poster art on the front, rather than on the back (in SW's case), and colour tinted to match the text.

Would I have to watch the other films to see this movie? Only asking as I have never seen any of them. I did watch the beginning of one of them (I think phantom menace) but did not really get into it and stopped watching it after a while. My friend wants someone to go along with him to watch the new one and was just wondering if I need to watch the other 6 films first.

You have no need to watch the other 6 film's before watching this one; this film will introduce you to the "star wars" saga nicely. Hope you enjoy ! This steelbook my also be the best version to start with, as quoted by other's, it is a Disney release, and their steelbook standard's are quite high in terms of quality !

Without drifting off topic. I highly recommend going to see The Force Awakens at the cinema, even if you watch it before the originals you can still enjoy it and then once you've seen the originals you can put the pieces together afterwards. I rarely go to the cinema but I believe Star Wars is one of those special events that has to be seen on the big screen.

And of course to stay true to this thread. If you like it pre-order the Steelbook. And Happy Christmas to you. ;)

I realised I should have put this question in the movie section and not here. Back on topic I actually like this Steelbook if it stays the way it shown now. Generally I like Disney Steelbooks as most of the time they turn out pretty good. I already out a pre order of this Steelbook (one for me and one for a friend who is a Star Wars fanatic).

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas as well as well as a new year

Agreed. The 3D was awful. I always watch 2D but I couldn't resist.

Really like the artwork for this and it's probably the one time I'd be perfectly fine if the 3D disc was excluded.
