honesly i don't understand why they release this wihout a title on the front after releasing the other 6 Wars Steelbooks witch all had a title on the front

i would like to have a chat with the people responsible for this and i'm very curious to hear their arguments

Star Wars Episodes I-VI = Fox
Star Wars Episode VII onwards = Disney (who have been doing titleless steelbooks for a while now)

-> It's now Disney, not Fox. And Disney want to do economy in product the same steelbook in all Europe, like Avengers 2, The Good Dinosaur... It will be the same for Star Wars, sadly !

It's a shame, biggest movie of the year and the UK release is sub par compared with the BB version. I wonder, are people from Europe bothered if the steelbook title is in English?

Finally got some feedback from my old colleagues at Disney.

Basically and this was happening when I was still working there a few years ago, Disney was one big fragmented mess with every region having a lot of control over their own products, they have been striving to centralise everything to make it more more efficient and cost effective etc....
So, even though the discs are produced over in Poland and the master created/pressed in England it is Disney Europe that is making this decision which is basically Disney France.
So getting feedback from complaints in the UK to the right people in France is never going to happen unless it is on a colossal scale.
I have given some watered down feedback and copied in a link to this topic and passed it up the chain, if anyone cares or does anything I can't say but if I hear anything you can be sure that I will pass it on.
I have no contacts at Universal so I can't give them my two cents and I dealt with Warner as well but they seem to playing ball still. Fox is next on my list after the Martian f-up ;)

what do you mean by that ? you know that within the European Union, there are 23 officially recognised languages

No, we are not bothered! In fact, the original title is my strong preference ;):D

I understand that, I just wondered if people who English isn't their first language, would want a steelbook with no title or the original title in English.

for me the rule is (IMO how it should be) : if the movie is english it should have title - in english, if the movie is french it should have title, in french and so. in this case i like better those US releases that have title in spine. not sure where came the idea of having faces in spine.

That's my thinking also. But I guess disney think if they put the title in English they will lose out on sales from non English speaking countries.

This is from another website SteelbookPro
The European Steelbook Star Wars The Force Wake is already out in Switzerland, we can get a glimpse of what awaits us in France on 16 April.

These photos tell us about finishing this edition: it is not painted as in America (see NEWS), but this is more like the zero-finish between matt and varnished

After seeing the Steelbook
It's most likely the UK is the exact same not 100% if the UK will include the DVD but it's possible it will as well

Get Ready for Oh My God what is that :(:ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno:

.... good lord...
Just when you think it can't get any worse. This is a contender for worst steelbook of the year. Can almost give The Mask of Zorro piece of crap a run for its money!

It's like Disney has done everything they can to make this as bad as possible. I can't think of a single thing that could make this release any worse...

-Expensive
-No 3D
-No title on front
-No title on spine
-Ugly faces on spine
-Boring choice of art
-Ugly matt finish

It's just the big European countries that are the problem because they dub movies in their own language and also translate the title. France, Germany, Spain and Italy.

Most, if not all, of the other European countries like the Scandinavian ones and The Netherlands just watch movies in English with subtitles, so only know the original English title to begin with. So we actually want (and always used to get) the English titles.

No regrets, thumbs down to the matt finish, still happy I avoided this, not worth the pain this release, I'll wait until the better releases come later on, not a fan of the artwork on any current steelbook release, I don't mind waiting.
