Well that seals it - zavvi's new ploy for 2014 is to keep churning out the same crap quality steelbooks as 2013, with that same disregard for quality :squint: Only this time these ass steelbooks will be "ultra limited" :hilarious: - the usual 4k run as before, now shared between zavvi and other retailers in europe - in a bid to Con the collector into paying £18 for garbage normally worth £7.99 :squint:

I think they lost out on those 4k print run as buyers wait for price to drop..now they are trying this 2k print run..

The steelbook may not be gloss or emobossed (debossing might have been nice on he title) but I personally really like the movie (and the various series that follows). Sometimes it's nice to have a movie you really like in a steelbook, even if that steelbook is nothing amazing.

It seems everyone loved There Will Be Blood, why all the hate for this when it is pretty similar?

Totally agree with you.

I think the think that really annoys me about this is the font (and that awful glow) they've chosen for the cover. Unless you are actually going to emboss the front, don't use an embossed font. It looks awful. I think I would have preferred it if they used the same logo that's on the disc for the front cover.

Well may be if they had incorporated the stargate's event horizon / wormhole water on the back of the steel that would have looked nice glossed, all shimmery n such

Arrived this morning, very disappointed. Exceptionally cheap looking matte steel definitely not worth the price. It's under a fiver on UK Amazon for the slip version, I wouldn't say this is worth much more than that.

I can agree with this if it was sold for <£10 :movie:

have studio canal embossed/debossed glossed any of their steels?

Yes but only a handful. Withnail & I was embossed and This is Spinal Tap was glossy, those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. If there's one thing that can be said, it's that everyone should have expected this to turn out the way it did.
