Those shots are just epic on every level!

I did visit Boulder for a day, that was a cool city. I was staying in Estes Park which was a really awesome little mountain city that was pretty close to Boulder, and Elk would actually come down from the mountains and walk amongst the people. That was pretty cool to see such large animals that were so used to people. One day it did snow when we went up towards the top of the mountain and then it tapered down as we got down and it got warmer, and that was pretty cool. It was like I was able to experience almost all of the seasons in one day LOL.

These Prop Shop items are apparently made by the exact same people that made the original prop, and they use the exact same techniques to make the replicas. Thats really cool, but I don't know if these things are worth more than double what Anovos. I guess it doesn't matter for me since they are way out of my price range anyways lol.

I guess XM's impeccable QC just doesn't impress me that much, because for those prices it should have it. For me its more how awesome, rare and hard to get the pieces are that make those pieces so awesome. The problem for me is even a PF is priced at $300 it should have that exact same level of QC as an XM piece because we are buying high end collectibles. If you'd go up to a regular person at a toy store and tell them about how much money you are spending on these collectibles they'd look at you like you're insane lol. I guess with that insanity I demand to have the quality that needs to come with these prices. I mean look at Kotobukiya, they offer stuff on the very low end of the collectibles market but all the stuff I've seen from them is flawless. How is it SS isn't able to replicate that when they charge over 10 times their price. And how the hell is SS jacking up the price on these things 40% in 2 years. I'm just so pissed right now, the thought of collecting anymore is upsetting to me.

Ha ha, yeah I never tell people how much I spend on the statues I have. Only one of my friends really knows. It is frustrating that unless you are rich, SS is starting to price collectors out of the hobby. But you are right, I've never had an issue with a single Kotobukiya piece I've ever bought and their prices are much lower.

I just wish SS would have taken a step back to take a look at the Supergirl PF so they could have seen they ****** up. LOL. It would probably help them to visit the forums once in a while too, because that was one piece that was taking tons of flack from the collectors. Maybe once you get a custom head it will look much better.

The additional high shipping cost is just another thing keeping me away from the XM stuff. I hate to think what their SW stuff will be going for over here once they come out.

Good job! :D At least HT hasn't gone off the deep end with their prices yet. Now that you mention it I haven't seen a lot of ordered posts on anything lately either. Maybe the market really is bursting.

I was staying in Estes Park. I wish I had pictures but I didn't even have a digital camera yet at the time :meh:. It was like 15 years ago.

I just wish Sideshow would involve collectors in the production process like XM does and the Supergirl would never have even got to that point! Instead they just make the products then when there's huge backlash they half heartedly make a too late subtle change that makes no difference. XM shows their digital renderings to customers and they change things before having them printed. Even PCS and Chronicle seem to be better at keeping customers updated on products coming out. Speaking of PCS, that 1:3 Arnold Conan goes on sale next week, if only I had $850 and room for a 1:3 statue!

I had to look up to see where Estes Park was located. I was actually stuck at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs for 7 months back in 2004 while I was waiting to see if the Army was going to discharge me. It was a nice place to be stuck with free room and board. :p

Koto makes some really cool stuff, especially their ArtFX+ stuff. They are small and are in the $50 range, but the details are incredible on those. If a company can do great paintwork on something that small, then there really is no excuse that another company can't do it on a much larger scale that costs 10 times the price. I'm glad XM is achieving that, but no one should have to pay those prices to get it.

I wish SS would involve collectors too. They've been avoiding the forums even more often lately (if thats even possible). I really don't think SS handles criticism very well, and at the same time they aren't really willing to take what collectors want into account when first making the statues. I really like that XM takes the time to do that, but I wonder if they get as big as SS if they'll be the same way. These $500+ prices have just put me into a collecting funk. I think its going to take me awhile to get out of it. I literally have no desire to order anything right now.

If you had to be stuck somewhere at least that is a really great area!

Dude you're not the only one in a collecting funk from the prices. I was kind of thinking about getting Kylo until I saw the price and it seems like a LOT of collectors on the message boards are bowing out. It sucks, who would have thought prices would have went up this drastically in the last 5 years? All we can do is hit SS where they will hear us by not giving in to these insane price hikes.

I know what will get you out of your funk, get a Hot Toys figure. ;) Ha ha, people are saying the Flame Trooper came out great so I'm looking forward to ordering that now!

I just saw an article that said they are re-shooting 40% of Rogue One because apparently it was too dark. They want it more light hearted and in line with A New Hope. They are also adding the new Han Solo...I may boycott this movie too.

40%? o_O If thats true thats going to cost them so much money. I would also think if its that much they'll really be rushing to make their release date, if they don't end up delaying it. I still haven't read a single comment who thinks the new Han movie is a good idea. At best even the people who will see the movie are doing so reluctantly.

Pretty soon HT will be the only high end collectible I'll be able to afford. When I got into PFs they were $400-ish which I thought was insane but I figured I could at least swing a few a year. Now at almost $600 I don't think I could swing more than 2, and I don't even think these things are worth that. I'm just not doing it. When a new Darth Maul statue comes out and I don't order it, then you know something is wrong. I'm so glad that thread after thread contains so much bitching about these new prices followed by posts of "pass". I hope SS is getting the message, but I have a feeling it will lead to SS thinking that lack of sales must mean people are not interested in the line, instead of the truth that people are not buying because of their out of control pricing. SS has got to find a way to drop the prices again.

That's smart being patient. I still haven't ordered the Supergirl PF because I'm holding onto hope that someone will make a better one. It's hard to have willpower as that is the only DC PF I haven't bought yet!

That picture really does look like you're standing in front of a painting! Were you living in Washington back when Mount St. Helen's erupted?

Wow, shipping big/heavy items from outside the U.S. is expensive as heck. It costs around $250 to ship a heavy XM statue over here.

I haven't seen anyone posting "ordered" on anything in a long while! Now I mostly see, "I may order eventually" or "Will wait for a coupon." Their exclusives don't sell out for months. People won't even order SS products now until they see in-hand pictures because that's how little collectors trust them! Like I've said before, I'd really like to see their sales numbers. By the way, SS refunded me my NRD and all of my flex payments on Darkseid. I used the money to buy another HT Star Wars figure. :p

What part of Colorado did you visit?

Great pictures. I 'liked' your facebook page. :) Who was the other rider you were with?

Yep that's the problem with SS. They don't listen to their customers or involve them at all in production like XM does and it's a gamble every time you open one of their products because you never know what's going to be inside.

I think that Prop Shop is a direct Disney/Lucas Films thing. I actually saw an article on the Internet about it yesterday, but I didn't click on it. I would much rather pay the $300 Anovos is asking as I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference as it is!

Yeah, I finally figured it out, LOL! And, each piece is made to order. Kinda cool, but the the price has me seriously SMH. "Rey's" lightsaber is $1200 FFS! Remember when these cost $300 from MR? LMAO! Nah, I'm good. I'll get one for costuming, and no one will ever be able to tell the difference.

It's more like that now than before. Before they were just like XM. They communicated on forums directly with their fans. I think it was around 2009 when it all changed.

Thanks man. I saw that! :) The other rider is FaLLenAEnGeL13. He's out of Olympia. Amazing rider, and his bike is just awesome! Here's a link to his Youtube if interested: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVyiwf7EGb1yu9vwkHUEqPA

Glad you got all your funds back. They are usually pretty good about the NRD refunds.

Nah, I was still in Texas. I remember hearing about the eruption on the news though.

It's crazy man. SS knows alot of their customers will pay what ever they charge. Lots of new people coming into the hobby replacing those who leave. I don't know if I'll ever get out, but what I buy will be alot less than it has been the last few years.

I'm just not willing to pay what they are charging. Honestly, can anyone tell me why they charge almost $900 for "Rey's" lightsaber than what MR did back in the day? Oh, that's right, material costs have gone up, LOL!

Yeah, it's pretty cool how it can be so hot during the day, but once that sun dips behind those mountains, the temp drops so quick! We had a Moose head butt our truck when driving to Pearl street in Boulder. That was fun! LOL!

Thanks man. I hope the vid comes out as good as the pics did.

Hard to say. I sure hope XM stays the same. And, honestly, I do hope that SS gets back to what made them great. Especially if they are expecting customers to drop more cash on their product.

I saw the Koto Phasma yesterday at Gamestop. I almost bought it, but I was on the bike and wouldn't have been able to carry the box home. It looked awesome though.

Oh FFS! Well, whoever is making those decisions should be directing the movie then! I'd be pissed if I were Edwards. It makes me sad man. Star Wars isn't only a space opera, but it's about bucking the studios involvement. That is how all this started with Lucas making the movies he wanted. Now, here we are, Disney/ LF butting in on their directors vision. Sucks! Hope we get a Directors Cut.

Can't wait to see the vid! :)

I do think these props that are made to order by the original prop makers are really cool, but these prices are super high. That charred up Vader helmet would be so cool to have. But even so I don't think these things would look that much better than stuff made by MR or EFX.

I've already seen a few people order Maul now. It seems like they are new collectors going by the date they joined the forum. I guess maybe if you weren't there when prices were much lower than maybe these new extreme prices won't faze the person as much. I'd say at least 90% of posts are still people refusing to cave to SS's new pricing though.

I keep eyeing that Koto Phasma. I don't think I'd buy a PF of her with these new prices but that little 1/10 Koto would be cool to throw on a shelf. Hope she has a bigger part in Ep. VIII.

I think the 40% worth of reshoots rumor was just a rumor. If it isn't I'd sure love to see an unrated Blu come out with an alternate cut. But I have a feeling someone just hard about reshoots and made up their own story about them.

I wonder what happened in 2009 to make Sideshow change their customer interaction. It almost seems like they don't give a rat's ass a lot of the time. Their attitude almost feels like "Buy it or don't, we don't care because some sucker will."

You had a moose head butt your truck? Ha, that sounds like a good story. Moose are aggressive buggers. My dad worked for the railroad and he said there were stories where moose charged the trains (and of course lost).

My friend collects the 1/10 Koto Star Wars line, he seems to like it a lot. That and Pops are his two lines.

Can't wait to see the vid! :)

Yeah I think the first PF I bought was $349.99 so these new prices seem stupid to me. I had originally said $400 was my limit (unless it was a larger scale character), but I honestly didn't think prices would go up this drastically.

I've heard those props actually come shipped in a wooden crate so I'm guessing that doesn't help the shipping costs either!

As for those 40% reshoots, it sounds like it may indeed be nothing but a rumor: https://www.yahoo.com/movies/rogue-one-reshoot-reports-horses-t-christopher-mcquarrie-164623544.html I'm still not going to accept a new Han Solo though!

Yeah, I just read the link Adam shared. Good for McQuarrie squashing that crap, and for calling out those blogs. We will be seeing Edwards vision, and that's all I want whether I like the movie or not.

I'd totally buy a 1/4 PF of Phasma. That armor in 1/4 scale would be glorious! Still, yeah, that Koto one seems to pop up every time I visit a comic shop or gamestop.

Definitely less new collectors are ordering than old collectors did back in the day. None of my local friends are ordering the new stuff from SS. I see that even BBTS is now doing NRD's for everything coming out since the Kylo PF. That is saying something.

Yeah, you can get what looks to me like an accurate helmet from Anovos for 1/2 the price just about. No thanks Prop Shop.

Thank you! I was already going to start posting how I wouldn't be seeing this movie. F'ing internet rumors!

When I first started buying these, I never thought prices would be this high. But, after Cody and Savage, it seemed SS was heading in that direction. Rising material costs my ass. I know they are doing this because others are paying more for other companies stuff.

LOL! Yeah, it wasn't bad, and we were laughing pretty hard. Probably because we were all stoned out of our minds.

Exactly! Some sucker will. In the early years of SS, when someone had an issue, reps felt that when that issue got to a forum, it was a failure on Sideshows part. Now, when someone has an issue, good luck! I think it changed owners, but kept the same president? I don't know for sure.

I definitely get that vibe form them, but at the same time on the forums I can always find that sucker LOL. But with Kylo it was me .

The most I've ever spent on a piece is $500. Kylo would have been an exception but I used RP which brought it under that. I'm really thinking $500 will be my limit as far as 1:4 scale goes. As much as I love these, they just aren't worth more than that to me.

I saw that wooden crate they ship those in in one of the videos. Thats definitely really awesome, but not what they are charging kind of awesome.

Its good to hear that that reshoot rumor was just that. I'd hate for any SW movie to be considered so bad that they'd have to reshoot nearly half of it.

BBTS is now charging NRD's on PFs? That sucks. That literally takes out all of the incentive to order a piece from them instead of SS.

I'd love to say I'd buy a Phasma PF, but at the price that will cost, its just not going to happen for me. At these prices I'd just rather save my money up and get something bigger down the road.

Cody came out at $380 and the forums all complained that was too much. SS obviously didn't listen because now a little more than 2 years later SW PFs have gone up nearly $200 more than Cody. How in the hell can SS justify this? If they say its all material costs they are completely full of ****. Its really coming down to is a combination of them seeing what people in the US are forking over for XMs stuff, and also seeing how much people are forking over for their discontinued pieces on eBay.

Someone just posted this pic of an unpainted sculpt from the new Maul PF.

Firstly, that head sculpt is totally Ray Park. Secondly they did sculpt the tattoos in there. I'm thinking this thing was supposed to be shirtless all along, maybe it was LFL that wanted them to make them put him in his full outfit? Either way if the sculpted tattoos make it into the production piece at least people can do some awesome customs, even if they have to paint the tattoos themselves.

I'm already starting to move myself away from the hatred of SS and their insane prices, to thinking I might end up getting this after all if I can find a deal on a Reg.

Exactly! The days of everyone rushing to PO the latest piece seem to have ended a while ago, and now with the prices, I wonder if the leftovers will be enough to sustain SS.

Yeah, I hear ya. I just want her in 1/4 scale, LOL!

Well, you're willing to fork over more because it is a piece you REALLY want. I definitely want a 1/4 Kylo piece, but unsure if I want it from SS. It looks badass though, and SS did an amazing job on the proto. I really want to order that and the new 1/4 Trooper, Maul, and the Vader PF, but I really want to see what XM is doing first. It's just time for me to branch out a little.

If you have your heart set on it, get it! Personally, I think it looks amazing! The only reason I'm waiting is to see what XM is doing with Maul.

I definitely want her in 1/4 scale too! Me paying what they ask though remains to be seen. I wonder if at this current rate of release of SW PFs if we'll see her soon. Something sure lit a fire under SS's ass to get them in gear with producing SW product again. I just wish pricing was what is was before I jumped into collecting.

Its cool that you are branching out. My other collectibles are just so all over the place, I really want to try really hard to stick to PFs with SW stuff. I just thank God I still haven't gotten sucked into the Funko Pop hype .

I definitely think the new Maul looks awesome. I just wonder what they originally planned with this thing since they spent the time to sculpt in the tattoos.

Most likely the shirtless Maul we see in TCW or Rebels. I guess Disney/LFL wanted the change hence the delay.

LOL! I know. I'm still staying with SW, but now that other companies are doing 1/4 stuff, it's time to branch out. Not only that, but I think that once HT starts doing human likenesses in 1/4 scale, it is going to be a massive hit to SS.

I hope so. But I'd rather see it from HT I think. Even though she didn't do much, switch out options would be cool! I really can't wait to see if they do a 1/4 Kylo Ren with an Adam Driver portrait.

I hope HT is able to crank out a lot of 1/4 scale pieces. The only SW one thats been released so far is Boba. I'm still really geeked to see their ROTS Vader. HT can be even worse than SS when it comes to stuff they tease though. They still haven't gotten their 1:4 Terminator out that they teased back in 2012.

A HT Adam Driver portrait would be sweet, but I really want to see that burnt up Anakin heasculpt they will hopefully do for their Vader the most.

Now that would be sweet too! :D

That sucks! I hope that is not the case with SW. Although, their announcements have been slim for the 1/4 stuff. I just hope that we get 1 or 2 options a year at least.

1 or 2 definitely sounds reasonable. Hope they can make that happen. At least they're really cranking out their SW 1:6 stuff. They definitely didn't sit on that license once they announced it like they have with others. I think their 1:4 Kylo will be at SDCC, but if it shows up and they release pricing to be under SS's PF thats going to be another problem for SS. On StatueForum there is a thread with a poll asking how many of the new SW PFs have people bought since SS's new PF pricing and the people have made it clear to SS that they are not putting up with SS's bull****. There are only 4 people on that thread who ordered the new $500 F.O. Stormtrooper.

I decided I'm going to wait a couple of months and pick up the new Droid PFs off of eBay. There has already been one of their new Boba PFs that just sold a couple of days ago for over $100 under retail. I should be able to at least save a couple hundred bucks on the droids.

Really? Damn! LOL! Not surprised. Good move too.

That will be the only way SS listens. Of course, what they'll try and do, like before during the PF drought, is make SW collectors suffer by not release product at all. Which is fine with me. Plenty of other manufacturers.

I think people buying the stuff now from SS are going to have a really hard time getting all of their money back if they have to sell these new PFs. I see SS having these things in stock for a couple of years each especially the Droids and new Vader PF because of their super high ES, there will be a lot of deals on ebay thats for sure.

I still have a feeling SS will interpret the lack of sales as no interest instead of their prices becoming so astronomical it has finally priced collectors out. I'm really happy to see so many people collectively giving SS the middle finger at the same time. I hope this means another company will get 1:4 SW US distribution rights.

I hope so too. And, yeah, that's exactly the way they will interpret it because it sure as hell can't be that collectors aren't willing to pay higher prices for the same product that has been poorly QC'd, terrible returns dept, and sub par packaging. LOL! And, yeah, some new collector will eventually want to sell their newer overpriced PF's on ebay only to learn that they won't get what they paid for.

SS is just used to the collector always bending over for whatever SS does, and I've seen it for so long, but there really has been a shift, almost universally, finally on the forums. Even the people who buy everything are saying nope. I think $500 is really the limit a lot of the collectors are just not willing to exceed, at least not for what they are getting. And now they have to beg and plead with SS on the forums just to get the lightup features added to the SW PFs.
