Target and not honoring shelf prices.

This past Tuesday my wife and I went in to our local Target to purchase a few things. I decided to go back and browse the movies as I always do. And low and behold they the Back to the Future Trilogy marked for $19.99 on blu ray, so I grab a copy to purchase because I know that's one heck of a deal. When we get up front it does not ring up for the $19.99 as stated on the label below te movie. One of the managers and I go back to verify that in fact the barcodes matched, and thy did!! So we go up front and they manager on duty refuses to honor the price and told me too bad!

I went in today to talk to the store manager and she told me the same thing!!

I think it's crap but what does HDN think?

Hi MrCor I am sorry to hear that:( I have heard of similar stories, but it varies by store. As a courtesy the manager can over ride prices, but in this instance, if they discovered it was an error (eventhough the sticker said $19.99), perhaps they have the right to not honor the price....

You should of asked for the district manager's number and or corporate. Once they hear both of those they sometimes become more accessible, but yeah if the don't give u the price that is being advertised then they shouldn't label them as such.

They won't actually give out the district managers number and corporate was zero help.

Find some #s on target.com and call and complain or something. I think its bullshit, esp since the stuff matched ... plus at release they sold it for that price anyways!!! So its not like its something they haven't done before.

At best buy I never get stuff price matched in their error ... but it typically turns out they put up sale signs on top of the digibooks when its the regular BDs actually on sale. So the stuff doesnt technically match ; but in your case, it did!

It won't matter to Target. I went through all that bullshit with the Cowboys & Aliens steelbook fiasco. And they WILL not let you speak to a RM, DM and certainly not any one higher up than a supervisor.

Agreed 100%. They do not care at all. That's why I've contacted the BBB, the Federal trade Commision, and the Attorney General.

Just a heads up for everyone who read this...

Target Executive Offices has emailed me today and told me i could go into Target and pick up my copy of Back to the Future Trilogy for $19.99 :scat:

but it actually ended up being $18.99 with my Red Card EEK!

Thankfully Target has stood behind their mistake!!

One thing you can do in these situations if the manager won't honor the price is threaten to call the Department of Weights and Measures. I'm sure the manager would love dealing with local government.

Does weights and measures really have anything to do with retail pricing? I thought it was more in regard to accuracy of "weights and measures" gas pumps etc.

I know pricing laws vary by state. But in WI you are entitled to the posted price. This includes old sale signs that are still up, shelf labels that are not accurate, Etc.. I am actually shocked they didn't honor the price at your store, and then have someone go back and update the label so the next person didn't get the deal.
