TENEBRAE [REMASTERED] BLU-RAY STEELBOOK

TERROR BEYOND BELIEF!

A notorious horror classic returns in all its depraved glory. This infamous video nasty updated the classic Giallo blueprint for the gorified 80s, courting controversy and drenching the viewer in crimson arterial spray.

A razor-wielding psycho is stalking the horror writer Peter Neal, in Rome to promote his latest work, Tenebre. But the author isn’t the obsessive killer’s only target, the beautiful women who surround him are doomed as one by one, they fall victim to the murderer’s slashing blade…

Will fiction and reality blur as fear and madness take hold? Watch in terror as by turns the cast fall victim to the sadistic imagination of Dario Argento, Italy’s master of horror.

Suspiria is the only film I've seen of his, but hopefully I will get around more. Loved the crazy and tense nightmarish atmosphere created in Suspiria.

I would love a Suspira steelbook. The current blu ray is a bit ****, hopefully Arrow can pick up the rights.

there is a new austrian blu-ray edition scheduled for 2014 (by '84 entertainment), which is rumoured to be better picture quality and a new restoration (not a completely new transfer though, as the rights-holder won't give out the master negatives of suspiria for some strange reason). so the chances are good that we will see new suspiria editions in other countries too. i also hope for a suspiria steelbook, that's numero uno on my wishlist.

Suspiria is amazing and considered his masterpiece but a lot of fans put Tenebrae right up there alongside it. It's a really stylish slasher which still has suspense and trademark Argento style but unlike Suspiria which revolves around the supernatural it doesn't really rely on the use of color or outlandish set pieces, It's just a simple psychological thriller. I highly recommend checking this out next then move on to the rest of his back catalogue. Do a blind buy and get this gorgeous steel you won't regret it. Excellent soundtrack too!

i highly recommend the following to you:

4 flies on grey velvet
profondo rosso
tenebrae
phenomena
bird with the crystal plumage (but don't buy the old arrow blu-ray! it has a cropped picture and overall is much worse than the long sold-out blue underground blu-ray).

+1

however, i think also tenebrae is a piece of art in terms of sound and light (and colours). the tenebrae soundtrack is amazing, i have it on vinyl, and listen to it at least once a week. :)

I must get round to picking this up. I have developed a new found appreciation for some of these old classic horrors, thanks to the amazing work Arrow do. The transfers are always incredible and the steels are always really good quality as well!

What about Inferno, the second film in his mother trilogy? I've got that laying around and thought about watching it soon. :)

it's not bad either, but i had the feeling after suspiria he tried to do it even better and top his masterpiece, and overdid it a bit (in my opinion). + the soundtrack is not by goblin (unlike most of the others), but at some points very "hardrock-ish", which i also did not like. but overall, of course also a good argento.
i would not risk a blind-buy only on the ones made after 1990, everything else is worth a view.

I'm the opposite, I LOVE Emerson's music for Inferno, but then I listen to nothing but hard Rock and metal anyway. Agree on the overall film though, it's just Suspiria amped up. Visually very clever but it just feels like he went to far.

I definitely agree in his output after the 90's .... Best forgotten lol

stendhal syndrome and sleepless are both pretty cool movies though, if you don't try to compare them to his earlier masterworks. i watched "sleepless" recently, actually only the first half of it because i fell asleep :hilarious:, but the first hour was very well done with the camera angles, cutting and again, creating suspense and anxiety with sound effects and music.

Does anyone know if this will be around for a while. Wondering if it'll drop further in a few weeks.

i'm not sure if it will drop further on zavvi, but i think the exclusivity will end some time (like "the beyond"), which means it will be available also directly from arrowfilms, and they are known to have flash sales with steels for 9.99,-.
(i'm waiting for that).

I've been wanting this for ages and finally ordered it for £9.99. If it's sold out on zavvi this could mean it's on the verge of selling out for good.
