To anyone new to steelbook collecting here is the age old conundrum...

Do you buy this in the hope that you have a new sought after collectable?

Or do you avoid it, because of the cost and hassle of importing (and all the charges) and possibly being left with something available for less on ebay?

Whenever you read about people profiteering, this is the choice they have to make every time. There is no easy answer. You're called either a greedy fecker, or a dumb ass duped by the hype.

You pays your money and you takes your chances.

3) You buy it because you don't already own T2 and it is still as cheap as getting any other version ? ;)

Huh?! Did my post just get deleted?! Why? It was a very constructive post with an honest question in it, completely related to the thread. It had absolutely nothing to do with what you just mentioned. It didn't get a couple of 'Thanks' for nothing: people apparently appreciated it.

This is some serious unjustified censorship if you ask me. This isn't what I'm used to here on HDN.

I'll post it again:

Hi folks,

I talked with kimchi dvd, he said terminator 2 steelbook edition will be exclusive to kimchi dvd and 500 print only for promotion. so hurry up to order if you don't want to miss.

500 EA exclusive to kimchidvd only.

No more than 1000, limited to 1000 including korean local release.

Hi folks,

everyone discussed total print run is 4k or 1k or more than 1k,
Today I discussed with Tony, he said that he ordered only 1.5K disc so no more than 1.5K

Do not discuss total print run more,

Why am I not allowed to ask why the print-run keeps getting changed and why people seem to keep believing any update Choi Chungkwon makes, eventhough he has been 'wrong' two times already?! I'm simply trying to contribute here, as I feel like people have the right to know the absolute truth.

I think it is a very legit reason to question Choi Chungkwon's trustworthiness as a source after these inconsistencies. I have no idea why HDN would want to enforce a certain truth on their members (looking at the first post) and even go as far as to delete posts that question certain given information.

I mean, I would like to know what the real truth is. Did anyone else besides Choi Chungkwon contact Kimchi about this?

Obviously we all have to take every bit of information with a grain of salt. Things can certainly change any minute. With that being said, we'll go in and dig as much information as we can. Speculation is part of the hobby, can we get back on topic?

If more wood is being thrown in the fire the thread will be locked until things cool down.

I'm sure Choi is just passing on the info he's given and we all appreciate that, I don't think he's misleading anyone on purpose. I also don't believe that this is limited to 1500 copies though, can't say I'm particularly bothered by the amount (although the lower the better obviously) but there's something odd about how it keeps rising...

Edit: Sorry Horhay wrote this before seeing your post...

I for one trust and am appreciative of Choi's efforts.
Shameful that some members are trying to bad-mouth him.

He informed us about the debossing and embossing on the T2 steelbook.
As well as the embossing on the full slip, which (to my knowledge) is a first for a Korean steel.
He was correct about this. A member e-mailed Tony and he confirmed it.

So what if the print run is not 1,500. How come no one complained or whined that Roger Rabbit didn't have 1,000 print run? This is the best looking T2 steel in my view. It feautures debossed eyes with an embossed title. Even if it's 3,000 (the minimum I believe) it will still sell out.

Members tend to forget KimichiDVD is a business. The main goal of a business is to maximize profit (Economics 101). I'm sure KimichiDVD kept increasing the original quantity due to it's popularity. Why wouldn't they? Choi is simply passing on what KimichiDVD originally planned.

This is absurd. If the print was originally 500 it would have sold out within a day. If that happened guess what would follow? The thread would be swarmed by members complaining they didn't get a copy, and it's unfair that some buyers bought more than one. Also, that eBay prices are too high and selfish. The price definitely would skyrocket, look at Ted KR and Terminator KR.

Though, instead the issue is there are too many copies. :wtf:
Seriously ppl, it's either too much or too little. Seems members will complain either way. I am satisfied sufficient copies are available. We have new members everyday, and I'm sure they would love to purchase a copy of this awesome steel. This is better looking than other T2 steels and definitely more affordable than the T2 V2 Japan steel. I honestly think one of the main issues is that some members were hoping to flip a profit.

 Thank you for your efforts and patience Choi.
I hope you still can pass on our thoughts to KimichiDVD regarding the final appearance of the T2 steelbook. :ohno:

Edit: Why do most people remember the mistakes you've made, meanwhile the good things go unnoticed?

Kimchi seems to have friendly folks that will talk about print run qty. I don't think choi is trying to manipulate anything in particular, but it does seem like a perfectly good example of "Don't shoot the messenger" :p

Moving on, the artwork looks fantastic. shame on me since I hadn't checked out this thread :D

I am looking forward to the actual photos.

I will buy this even if the print run is without any limitation... That said, everything is limited, even all the old DVD steelbook editions....;)

Best wishes,

Michael

I could care less what any print run is, I ordered this because I wanted it.

To me... getting so worked up and emotional over anything else is just goofy and fueled by greed and/or expectations/speculation over future value.

Just look at past similar releases, if you think you'll hit the jackpot, load up and chill.

Whew! :p

This has the potential to be the best looking Terminator 2 Steelbook which is the main draw for me. If it becomes sought after, that's a bonus :)

Yeah this new anti-freedom of expression thing has kinda gone crazy here recently. Wonder what's up :movie:

I tend to agree that it has been a bit heavy handed around here recently. Yes we don't want this site to become like a certain Blu-ray focussed site (I think we all know the one I mean) where the mods seem to be non-existent, but on the other hand we should still be allowed to express our opinions. It seems any comment which could be deemed offensive in the slightest is removed or edited whereas the constant spam seems to go unregulated. Read this post before it gets deleted ;)
