Its amazing how incompetents and ignorants are some of the employees, 3 of them at one store were absolutely sure the steel was a pre order several weeks ago they stand on that position then I showed my pick up recipt and gived me the steel none say anything and just made the delivery, sold out now.

I am very impressed by this steel. Not just that it's gorgeous, but that it looks so much better than the other releases IMO, and I got to hand-pick it instead of waiting three weeks with my fingers crossed that it'll arrive undamaged like I'd have to with an overseas release.

The BB store I went to had about 20 of them out. The few that I purchased all had small scratches or paint nicks in the top right corner of the steelbook. In the store, it looked like part of the design to me, so I missed it (damn Best Buy lighting )

I went back to exchange them, and the one's that were left all were the same way and worse! Here is what I'm talking about:

No employee even mentioned the free T-shirt to me either. No signs or anything else about this promo in the store. I did see the shirts right near the register too, but they had a $20 price-tag on them - thought that was too expensive for a T-shirt.

Much better cover than the other versions, still don't like the back or inside art though, maybe the front/back art from the other steel would have been better inside?

I guess this steel has a manufacturing problem then because apparently some copies have the identical blemish. I decided to order a few online, with the hope that I will get some good ones, and then I can just return the ones with the marks. I had no idea about the shirts either. I find Best Buy reps to be un-helpful overall, but some of them probably didn't know themselves about the t shirt offer.

My 2 copys are mint w/no scratches there. Looks like a production issue....something wasnt set up right and it must of happend to a number of them before they fixed the issue. The luck of the draw is not always good for everyone, thats why its such a challenge to get a steelbook copy with no defects!

I showed it to him last night and he got all excited to watch a new spiderman movie. Not sure how to keep him away from the steelbook, I did take the disc out for him to take upstairs and watch but man how do I keep him away from the actual steel.

Yes, i think you are correct about production issue.... it's under the plastic. I still consider it mint since it's sealed and not caused by consumer or store issues.

lol. i wonder if you need to start buying in sets of two. one for your collection and the other as sacrifice to the steelbook gods...or to your 3 year old in your case

Buy the slip case and cover from Ebay or something that way you do not have to re-purchase twice and make sure to safeguard your steelbooks! My son is two right now so I don't let him or my girls into my man cave unsupervised

after i saw this movie i decided to open 1 my copies, it's amazing, love it! i used to think DISTRICT 12 was the best release this year, but i think now this is it! easily 1 of my top 10 ever!

decided to drop by the largest BestBuy which carries the most steelbook...and NONE was in stock. Interesting...I guess people are grabbing them up on Friday after work or the weekend.

i have 15 stores within a 50 mile radius that are sold out... i guess this means these will be rare because these online orders will probably last only a few days until their warehouse is cleaned ou

it's all about supply and demand. Rarity is subjective because 1 million qty out of 1 trillion is considered rare

None of us know the actual production # of this case other than Steelbook and BestBuy.

It's up to you if you want to buy an extra copy for trading chip down the road. You make that decision. Everyone else is going to have their own opinion about the future
